Mike Shanahan said RGIII was a full participant, bolstering his chances of playing this weekend.

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III said he took part in a full practice at full speed on Wednesday, and that he expects to play if coaches and team doctors clear him, according to the Redskins Twitter account. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan confirmed RGIII was a full participant in practice.

Griffin missed the Redskins Week 15 game against the Cleveland Browns due to a knee injury suffered the previous week against the Baltimore Ravens. In the lead-up to that game, Griffin was adamant that he felt as though he could play, but the team elected to keep him out.

Kirk Cousins made the start in that game, which ended in a 38-21 victory for Washington. Griffin was "not happy" with the fact that he didn't get to play in that game, though he was happy that the team got a win and kept its playoff hopes alive.

Griffin is completing 66 percent of his passes on the season, has 2,902 yards and 18 touchdowns against just four interceptions. The Redskins can still win the NFC East, and are also in the running with four other potential teams for the NFC's wild card.

Redskins confirm Cousins to start.

The Redskins confirmed this and I was preaching it all week on Twitter. At this state of the season, if RGIII were to sustain a major knee injury, a nine month rehab means he'd miss all of training camp. The Redskins can win wth Cousins. The Redskins could compete with Grossman so expect a similar offense of bootlegs and Alfred Morris.

According to Robert Griffin III's father, the quarterback will get the start on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns despite his injury.

Whether or not Robert Griffin III will play through a right knee injury to start against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday has been the hot topic of discussion since Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Many have doubted his status for the game, but at least one person says, definitively, that Griffin will start: his father.

According to USA Today, Griffin will get the start against the Browns, and that his knee has improved enough to the point where he feels confident. Griffin's father says that his son told him early on Tuesday of his plans to start.

"He's doing great,'' Robert Griffin II told USA TODAY Sports. "He definitely said he plans to start. I haven't seen him (the last two days). But he told me (today) everything has gone well.''

Griffin collided with Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, and sat out one play with the knee injury. He then returned and ran four more plays, but the pain was too much, and he sat out the rest of the game. In the report, Griffin's father does quip "Hopefully he'll let the running back due all the running."

Probably good advice, as it doesn't seem likely Griffin will be at 100 percent if he does play on Sunday.

The latest Redskins updates from Mike Shanahan's Monday presser at 3:00PM EST.

As he does every week, Mike Shanahan address the media at 3:00PM, which was streamed via ESPN980.com. Some key takeaways:

Robert Griffin III has a mild LCL sprain to his right knee and might play vs Cleveland. There is some swelling still. The ACL he tore at Baylor is healthy. This is classified as a Grade 1 sprained knee.

Shanahan wasn't sure yet if RGIII would practice Wednesday.

Shanahan: "Not too many teams have Dr. James Andrews on their sidelines. We feel lucky there." He continued that's he on the sidelines most games.

On what changes if Kirk Cousins has to play: "You'll have to show up and see."

Shanahan: "We're not going to put [Robert] out there if it's not in the best interest of the team."

Shanahan on RGIII: "We go through it each week on how to better protect yourself."

Shanahan: "I've enjoyed having 2 rookie Quarterbacks because they learn and grow together. They bounce things off each other. They really pull for each other. RGIII was the first to congratulate Kirk on the Touchown. That's what you're hoping for."

On Richard Crawford: "He did a great job of taking advantage of his opportunity. 100 return yards is the difference in winning and losing." He then highlighted how Crawford would catch and go directly upfield.

On Alfred Morris fumbles: "Fumbles are going to happen. He's a guy you can trust. I got a lot of confidence in him."

On having 3 QBs active: "There's always that possibility."

On any other injuries: "Trent and Fletcher are better than they were. There's nothing else I want to talk about now."

"Chris [Cooley] is playing his role extremely well. He's a solid veteran for us knowing his role and doing it well."

Robert Griffin III didn't tear an ACL Sunday. It's just a knee sprain, the team announced.

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III avoided a major knee injury, as the team reportedly said Sunday night that the star rookie quarterback suffered just a knee sprain. An MRI taken after the game revealed there were no ligaments torn and, structurally, per a team spokesman, "everything is clear."

Griffin hurt his knee late in Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Fellow rookie Kirk Cousins replaced him and led the 'Skins to an overtime victory at home. Redskins fans were panicked that Griffin, who looked like he suffered quite the injury, may miss significant time, which would seriously hinder the team's now-bright playoff chances.

Griffin, who tore his ACL while at Baylor, told reporters after the game he was confident it wasn't a ligament injury, but 'Skins fans know better than to celebrate before the actual diagnosis. No word from the team yet as to how long, if at all, Griffin will be out. Head coach Mike Shanahan is expected to give more clarity on the situation when he meets with reporters Monday.
