The Washington Commanders fired Head Coach Ron Rivera this morning, and there have already been several reports about interest in candidates to replace him. Michigan Wolverines HC Jim Harbaugh’s agent was reportedly contacting by Bob Myers, who is leading the search for a new coach and head of football operations. Washington also requested to interview Los Angeles Rams DC Raheem Morris.

Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Washington Commanders have also requested to interview Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson and DC Aaron Glenn. Johnson is considered the top new head coaching candidate in this year’s hiring cycle. He turned down jobs last year, and returned to the Lions to help them win their first division title in 30 years. Johnson is expected to have his choice of jobs, so it will be interesting to see how many interviews he takes this year.

Aaron Glenn has been the Lions defensive coordinator for the last three seasons. This is his first coordinator position, He started coaching in 2014, six years after he retired as a player. Glenn’s first NFL job after his playing career was as a personnel scout for the New York Jets from 2012-13. He coached defensive backs with the Cleveland Browns(2014-15) and New Orleans Saints(2016-2020) after that.
