Washington Commanders request interview with LA Rams DC Raheem Morris

The interviews are getting set up

The Washington Commanders fired Head Coach Ron Rivera this morning, and there have already been several reports about interest in candidates to replace him. Michigan Wolverines HC Jim Harbaugh’s agent was reportedly contacting by Bob Myers, who is leading the search for a new coach and head of football operations.

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Commanders have requested permission to interview Los Angeles Rams DC Raheem Morris for their open head coaching job. Morris was the defensive backs coach for two years under Mike Shanahan when he was head coach of the Washington Redskins, and then another year under Jay Gruden. He joined Shanahan’s staff after spending three seasons as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Morris moved on from Washington to the Atlanta Falcons for an Assistant Head Coach/Passing Game Coordinator position. He also started coaching the wide receivers a year after arriving. Morris moved back to the defensive side of the ball in 2020 when he became the Falcons defensive coordinator. Morris was named the interim head coach after Dan Quinn was fired that season. He has been in Los Angeles serving as Sean McVay’s DC since 2021.
