Josh Harris Presser: “It’s important that I do this personally and get this right.”

Josh Harris talks to the media after firing Ron Rivera

Washington Commanders managing partner Josh Harris spoke to the media today after officially firing Head Coach Ron Rivera. He thanked Rivera for his time, and what he had to deal with during a “tumultuous time” in the franchise’s history. Harris has been working behind the scenes as he prepared to reshape Washington’s front office and coaching staff. Harris hired Bob Myers, a former NBA executive that he called a winner who knows how to build winning organizations. He will be an advisor to Harris and lead the search process, along with former NFL executive Rick Spielman.

Josh Harris said the team was not good enough this year, but he made a promise to give them the year to prove themselves. Now they look towards a bright future that includes Washington being an attractive destination for executives and coaches due to their high draft picks, and extra draft capital acquired through trades, along with a lot of cap space next year.
