The Washington Commanders have announced a few roster moves this morning. They are placing rookie RB Chris Rodriguez, Jr. on injured reserve. He injured his ankle during Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets. He was seen after the game wearing a boot, and did not practice with the team yesterday.
Rodriguez had been Washingtons #3 RB this season, but got more opportunities the last two weeks with starter Brian Robinson out with a hamstring injury. Robinson returned to practice yesterday, but was limited to individual drills. Washington still has #2 RB Antonio Gibson, and he would get the start if Robinson isn’t ready for Sunday’s home game against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Commanders also signed Derrick Gore from the practice squad last week, and have FB/TE Alex Armah available on the 53-man roster. Washington re-signed RB Jaret Patterson to the practice squad, and he would be available to be elevated for Sunday’s game if needed. Jonathan Williams is also still on the practice squad, but he suffered a concussion vs the Jets, and there haven’t been any updates on his status since reverting back to the practice squad.
Rodriguez going to injured reserve opened up a spot on the roster, and Washington filled that with LB De’Jon Harris. He has been on injured reserve since 11/22 with a quad injury. The Commanders opened his 21-day practice window yesterday, and he was a full participant in practice. He will join a linebacker group that is missing starter Jamin Davis(shoulder surgery), and is currently being led by Cody Barton. Khaleke Hudson has been getting more snaps recently. Washington also has Jabril Cox and David Mayo available for depth.
