The Washington Commanders enter Week 16 coming off a road loss to the Los Angeles Rams. They are traveling north this week to face the New York Jets for a Sunday Christmas Eve game. The Commanders opened the week as 3-point road underdogs, and that line has stayed the same throughout the week. The Jets are 5-9, and they have already been eliminated from playoff contention.
The New York Jets were shutout 30-0 by the Miami Dolphins last week. The week before that they beat the Houston Texans 30-6. QB Zach Wilson is still in the concussion protocol which means backup Trevor Siemian could be getting his first start of the season. The Jets activated Aaron Rodgers from injured reserve, but he will not play again this season.
Washington has three games left, and their playoff chances are gone with their 4-10 record. They hold the 4th overall pick in the draft, and will be going through some major changes this offseason. Sam Howell’s development as a starting quarterback continues to be the most important part of this season, but that has not been going well and he was benched last week for Jacoby Brissett. Howell will get the start this week, but his future with Washington has a lot of question marks with a new regime likely coming next month.
