The Washington Commanders enter Week 12 on a short week as they prepare for another Thursday game. This one is against the Dallas Cowboys, and will be another Thanksgiving day game between the two long-time division rivals. Washington lost a game where the were two-score home favorites, and dropped their record to 4-7. That loss tanked the Commanders playoff chances unless they start a miracle run at AT&T Stadium on Turkey Day.
The Washington Commanders opened the week as 11-point road underdogs, and that line has already jumped up to 12. The Cowboys are 7-3, and trying to catch up to the Philadelphia Eagles in the division and the conference. Dallas has won three of their last four games by 23+ points, but their one loss in that stretch was a 28-23 loss to Philly. The Cowboys beat the Panthers in Carolina 33-10 last week, and are coming into this nationally televised game with a lot of confidence.
Sam Howell was putting together a nice string of games showcasing his big arm, and his improved awareness in the pocket. Howell’s last bad game was against the Giants a month ago, and Wink Martindale’s defense flustered him again on Sunday. Howell threw three interceptions, including the game-sealing pick-6. He also threw for 255 yards, a touchdown, along with another 35 yards on the ground and a gritty touchdown run.
Washington continues to adjust their defense and try to limit explosive plays. The Dallas Cowboys have a lot of weapons, and Dak Prescott is averaging 260.4 passing yards, 1.9 TDs, and only .6 INTs per game this season. Washington will need to get pressure with a defensive line that is going to be very thin heading into this Thanksgiving matchup. The secondary will also be missing rookie CB Emmanuel Forbes who injured his elbow last week.
