The Washington Commanders should have been on a two-game winning streak heading into this weekend’s rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles. Instead, they laid an egg in New Jersey, and lost to the New York Giants 14-7. Now they head back home, and will be hosting the 6-1 Eagles, who will also be bringing a lot of green to FedEx Field’s stands.
The Washington Commanders opened up as 6 1/2-point underdogs, and that’s where it’s been holding throughout the week. The Eagles got their first, and only, loss two weeks ago against the New York Jets. They had a big time matchup last week with the Miami Dolphins, and they walked off the field with another win.
Washington’s first game against Philadelphia went to overtime, tied 31-31. The Commanders won the toss, but they went three and out and failed to score. The Eagles took advantage of their opportunity and drove the ball down the field to kick the game-winning touchdown. That loss was seen by some as a positive after the previous week’s blowout loss to the Bills. Washington has regressed since then, and now faces an Eagles team that continues to restock their roster as injuries add up.
