Washington QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is believed to have suffered a hip subluxation and he’ll have an MRI tomorrow to determine if that’s the case and how much damage it caused, sources say. The hope is nothing was broken. A serious injury, but they’ll learn how serious tomorrow.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 12, 2021
A hip subluxation is basically a dislocated hip. The ball is not completely in the socket. Depending on severity, could be 2-3 months. Let’s hope Fitz is okay. #WashingtonFootball

So I guess we’re about to find out if trading for Stafford was the deal that got away for Rivera & Co…

Logan Thomas on Washington’s QB situation: “Same old story, just like last year”
— Pete Hailey (@PeteHaileyNBCS) September 12, 2021
It would be ridiculous to draw any conclusions on Ryan Fitzpatrick off his injury-shortened #WashingtonFootball debut. That said, Taylor Heinicke looked good. Again. All Heinicke does is make plays. Every time he plays.
— Al Galdi (@AlGaldi) September 12, 2021
The crowd 10 minutes before kickoff. Work to do to get fans back here. Starts by winning consistently. pic.twitter.com/WjIezLIv8D
— John Keim (@john_keim) September 12, 2021
Big ole "Let's go Redskins" chant going on right now
— Pete Hailey (@PeteHaileyNBCS) September 12, 2021
And now they're singing the fight song. The old one.
— John Keim (@john_keim) September 12, 2021
Worst part of today for Washington was that crowd was ready to rock. Really great atmosphere at kickoff. And the crowd stayed in it just never got the moment to go bananas.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) September 13, 2021
Finally saw the replay of the non-facemask. Missed a big one there.
— John Keim (@john_keim) September 12, 2021
Hop misses a 51 yarder. Bad play from Dyami to lose 3 yards on 3rd down. Big penalty too from Scherff cost them 5 yards. FG attempt goes from 43 to 51
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) September 12, 2021
Tough day for rookie RT Sam Cosmi working against Joey Bosa. Bosa gets better of him here on 3rd down pic.twitter.com/l8pbCIIZZY

Here's the big hit on Fitzpatrick that has Taylor Heinicke warming up pic.twitter.com/U5P829SkIZ
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
Washington has had these inside runs all day. Gibson chipping away nicely. Scott Turner goes back to it on 4th and short, Gibson picks up the 1st down pic.twitter.com/2tV2xE5thb
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
Gibson converting on 3rd and 2, taking over Peyton Barber's role. Interior 3 do a nice job creating the lane, Gibson hits it at full speed. Even has power to knock over his own C Chase Roullier on the way pic.twitter.com/xiiYRvEAgO
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
Taylor Heinicke is enjoying himself. Shovel pass to McLaurin for a nice gain after a penalty pic.twitter.com/1XNuN8L3yd
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
Taylor Heinicke trusts Logan Thomas on an over route. Deep safety plays it relatively well to stay on top of it, but Heinicke gives Thomas a chance to box out the safety and he does just that. Washington TD pic.twitter.com/XVJYDlxXMJ
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
Montez Sweat with a huge play. Wins off the edge against the Chargers RT, gets his hand on the ball as Herbert goes to throw. Ruled fumble out of the back of the end zone for a touch back, but under review. pic.twitter.com/Z0CaR83h7P
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
Washington drops into zone on 3rd and 16 and gives up a first down over the middle pic.twitter.com/cqoshvUc76
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
Justin Herbert is really good. 3rd and 7, Chargers isolate Williams on St-Juste again. Like with the TD, not terrible coverage by the rookie, but the back shoulder ball is very hard to defend. pic.twitter.com/mjt5eZLviS
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
Why Washington likes St-Juste, length. Bites on the double move, but has the length to recover and get his hand in at the catch point pic.twitter.com/9donnTtc4r
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
Part 2, Jackson gets his hand in at the catch point to force an incompletion pic.twitter.com/B3l4Zlc46o
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
About time we saw Terry McLaurin get the ball. What a damn catch pic.twitter.com/WNHnPMoSU8
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
How.... how did Terry catch that ball.... just incredible. WOW
— WASHINGTON FOOTBALL (@HogsHaven) September 12, 2021
Never got a good replay, but here's the INT from Jackson. Playing off on a PA comeback. Drives down on it and picks it off pic.twitter.com/3MxvvXCzAt
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
Unfortunately Gibson fumbled the ball on the next play pic.twitter.com/5uwtZSxa96
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 12, 2021
Jamin Davis' #WashingtonFotball debut was whisper-quiet today. I'm re-watching the game now to focus in on him because I never noticed him during the game at all.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 13, 2021
He finished his debut with two tackles and nothing else on the stat sheet. #WashingtonFootball
This was not JD52's best rep. First game. He will learn. He's talented. But he was on the business end of some big time blocks today. pic.twitter.com/Kc8T8BOuTL
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 13, 2021
Both Ron Rivera and Jon Allen mentioned missed or blown assignments for some of the defensive issues. Has to get fixed.
— John Keim (@john_keim) September 12, 2021
Yeah, defense probably shouldn't be talking about sack records this week.
— Washington Wire (@Washington_Wire) September 12, 2021
Holding and false start penalties are unacceptable from your Pro Bowl Guard.
— Disco (@discoque5) September 12, 2021
So anyway, what do you guys think the new name will be?
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) September 12, 2021
A lot to take away from this, but the overarching theme is rookie corners get exposed, and you can can’t fumble on your own 4 yard line.
— Washington Realm (@WashingtonRealm) September 12, 2021
This amazing defense is letting the chargers go 13-17 on third down
— Jordan Asri (@wfteamjordan) September 12, 2021
13-17 on 3rd down. The no-duh observation of the day….the Washington defense sucked today and was the #1 reason for the loss as it was in the last game it played last January. And also obviously, the #Chargers 2020 1st rd pick was spectacular. #WashingtonFootball
— Kevin Sheehan (@kevinsheehanDC) September 12, 2021
“Guys were not where they were supposed to be on defense” Ron Rivera says. He’s most frustrated about that unit, and guys on the offense, not handling their responsibilities on a down-to-down basis. Thinks guys were trying to do too much pic.twitter.com/NNtFzWn8O5
— Pete Hailey (@PeteHaileyNBCS) September 12, 2021
It takes an impressively bad defensive showing for that to be a bigger story than an injury to the starting QB, yet that’s happening here with the WFT it feels like
— Pete Hailey (@PeteHaileyNBCS) September 12, 2021
Well hey at least this takes any pressure off of this season, everyone can breath a sigh of relief that it’s over
— WASHINGTON FOOTBALL (@HogsHaven) September 12, 2021
Talking about the Washington-Chargers game. Lots to discuss. Me and @RealBramW cover it all from a disappointing day by the D, more QB changes thanks to injury and much more. https://t.co/2GQijf29rp
— John Keim (@john_keim) September 13, 2021
The Rashawn Slater tape is must-watch — kid absolutely balled out against Chase Young & Co.
— Austin Gayle (@PFF_AustinGayle) September 12, 2021
Just got done re-watching Washington's opener. Got five notes for you about it right here: pic.twitter.com/Z7oWRdthLI
— Pete Hailey (@PeteHaileyNBCS) September 13, 2021
What Washington saw today was their first of many games against an elite QB.
— manny benton (@manny_benton) September 12, 2021
Elite QBs can beat you even when you’re in the right position to make a play. Defense has to be what we thought they would be: Disrupters up front.
A franchise QB under center would have yielded the same results. Defense couldn’t get off the field. Poor tackling. Poor coaching. Poor play calling. Poorly executed game plan. A franchise QB doesn’t magically eliminate these deficiencies. #WashingtonFootball
— ᖇIGGO 70 ᑕᕼIᑭ ™ (@karl_diesel) September 12, 2021
It looks like @WashingtonNFL has been installed as a four-point home favorite over the @Giants on Thursday night. Massive Week 2 game.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 13, 2021
Starting 0-2 in the first five days with 2 home losses and a divisional setback would be ultra disappointing for Rivera's bunch.
This is funny to say but Taylor Heinicke is not one of my main concerns going into Thursday Night Football. He proved, again, that he can run this offense.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 13, 2021
There are many #WashingtonFootball issues to iron out in the coming four days. He's not near the top of the list.

Daniel Jones takes off on a scramble and fumbles the ball.
— Art Stapleton (@art_stapleton) September 12, 2021
Just brutal.
It was clear today that Saquon Barkley (knee) and Kenny Golladay (hamstring) were coming back from injuries. The Giants can’t win many games with them combining for less than 100 total yards. It may take some time for them though. Not ideal.

Every team in the NFC West won in Week One while every team in the NFC North lost.
— Rich Eisen (@richeisen) September 13, 2021
My biggest takeaway is how many other players out there who had to switch sides and struggled, leading to people claiming they sucked, which already started with Sewell. If nothing else, this is a great test case for just how difficult it can be to switch sides.
— Brandon Thorn (@BrandonThornNFL) September 13, 2021
Mac Jones fumbled twice today, apparently. https://t.co/8n2PAUrwFE
