The Washington Football Team announces roster cuts to finalize 53-man roster

The roster cuts started yesterday with the release of 6 players yesterday afternoon. The names started pouring in this morning as the team worked its way through 27 players to get to their 53-man roster. Ron Rivera said the team has their eyes on other teams cuts, potential trades, and of course filling out their 16-man practice squad with players that can develop and contribute this year.

Some notable names that were released this morning were Jimmy Moreland, Peyton Barber, and Antonio Gandy-Golden. Moreland has been a fan-favorite(The People's Corner), but faced a lot of competition. Peyton Barber was expected to .make the team going into the offseason, but the hype-rocket known as Jaret Patterson showed enough in camp and during preseason games to make him expendable. Antonio Gandy-Golden was a 4th round pick last year that dealt with injuries. He looked like he had a shot and was the best 2nd half WR in the preseason, but the competition was stiff this year. He could get interest on the waiver wire, and Washington should have practice squad interest if he clears.
