NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Washington Football Team Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Football Team’s 2021 preseason is off to a 1-1 start after last week’s home win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The first two games were basically scrimmages to see where the teams stood for the coaches. Who needs better conditioning, who doesn’t even need to see another practice, and how players handle certain situations the coaching staff puts them in. It was also a chance for guys like Jaret Patterson to prove they do belong on the field, and give them a chance to prove the doubters wrong.

Tonight’s game is being treated like a real test for the season. Ron Rivera has said the team has been doing full game preparation this week. They will be scheming for the Ravens, and running something that will look closer to the product they plan to put on the field this year. Rivera refused on multiple occasions to say how much the starters would play tonight, but Ryan Fitzpatrick and other starters won’t be playing tonight.

Several players are question marks going into tonight’s game. Curtis Samuel has been either on the PUP list, the Reserve/COVID-19 list, or “working on the side” for months now. It doesn’t sound like we’ll be seeing him on the field tonight either. The team sounds confident enough that they are taking it easy with his return, and he is a veteran who knows the offense. All in for Week 1?
