On the first play of team drills, Montez Sweat batted down a pass from Fitzpatrick. Rivera was talking about Chase yesterday, but I’m reminded what he said about impact being more than just sack numbers. How disruptive those two are is a better indication of the development.

A good back and forth between the offense and defense today. Sweat batted Fitzpatrick’s pass, and McLaurin said something along the lines of “that would have been a touchdown too.”

Oh. My. Goodness. Kelvin Harmon just caught a bomb from Heinicke with a receiver running with him in stride. This coaching staff was excited for Harmon before his injury. It’ll be interesting to see what he does during training camp.

And Heinicke starts his portion of team drills off with a couple of deep shots to Dyami Brown. The first one was a catch. The second one was just a little bit out of his reach.

Another nice operation from Fitzpatrick and Humphries, who beat his man for a touchdown. I feel like a lot of people forget about Humphries with all the talent at WR, but he has been one of the better slot guys for some time. Might emerge as a piece WAS relies on a lot.

Imagine running a fake, and you turn around to realize not only was Chase Young not fooled but is in your face. That’s what just happened to Ryan Fitzpatrick, but he was somehow able to get that ball out his hands. I have no clue how, Young was right there with arms extended

- With Jimmy Moreland out, Darryl Roberts getting reps in nickel, keeping Curl at safety.

Receiver rotations are a bit all over the place, but I think it’s notable that DeAndre Carter is getting snaps ahead of Steven Sims. Especially since Rivera highlighted Carter as a potential punt returner

Offense doing red zone drills. Needed to go back to the huddle. Montez Sweat starts yelling “no second chances in the game, that’s a five-yard penalty.” Chase Young threw a towel like a flag. Was funny moment.

Yes, Heinicke has some awesome moments, but River said yesterday that a plus for him is that he knows when not to improvise. We just saw an example of that. Neither of his options were open, so he wisely threw the ball out of bounds.

Heinicke has been impressive with how quick he processes and anticipates the play developing. He has looked good so far in minicamp. He’s already had a couple of big plays today.

Can Sims has had a pair of impressive catches where he had to seriously concentrate and use strong hands at the point of attack.

William Jackson III was in coverage for both catches. Sims just made a better catch, but the coverage was there

Ben St. Juste with a great defensive play the last rep of the period. Free ply for the offense, because defense came offsides. By St. Juste stuck with Dyami Brown, waited for the toss up to get there, then made sure Brown never had a chance to haul it in.

Ben St. Juste just did the AI over Tyronn Lue to Terry McLaurin. Ryan Fitzpatrick tossed up a high ball to McLaurin.

Rookie CB Benjamin St-Juste jumped up for a 50-50 ball against Terry McLaurin in the end zone, knocked it away as McLaurin landed, then stared over him as the defense erupted in celebration.

The defensive sideline is really getting into two-minute drills. Reaves had a nice recover and broke up a pass to Lamar Miller. Earned a lot of praise from his teammates.
