I thought six NFL teams had fantastic drafts, acquiring top talents while addressing key needs and upgrading their overall roster. In order:
— Ethan Young (@EthanYoungFB) May 1, 2021
1. Carolina Panthers
2. Denver Broncos
3. Cleveland Browns
4. Washington Football Team
5. New England Patriots
6. Los Angeles Chargers
We may not have the best history in RD2, but our recent 3rd rounders have been pure

Hoping Dyami Brown and Benjamin St-Juste add to this! pic.twitter.com/mecYqiLARU
Just a taste of what @DaxMilne is bringing to the squad

Worth noting that @__JP26 was teammates with @youngchase907 at St. Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel, Md., from 2013-15.https://t.co/ht8kJDqeKl

GM Martin Mayhew said @WashingtonNFL envisions fourth-round TE John Bates developing into a "really good blocking tight end" and a "functional receiving tight end type."

The other issue: I've been saying this for weeks, but most of you view me as a crazy man -- hopefully you'll believe it when Logan Paulsen confirms it ...
— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) May 2, 2021
Antonio Gandy-Golden's spot on roster is FAR from secure. He better improve quickly or "he gone' Ken "Hawk" Harrelson style.
All blessings ❤️ https://t.co/v7wkD0tyKd

Can’t wait to get to work! Beyond blessed to join @WashingtonNFL !! pic.twitter.com/gDZzPZkg4E

Buffalo RB Jaret Patterson signing with Washington. He had 1,000+ yards and 19 TDs in just six games... and he had 710 yards and 12 TDs, over the course of two consecutive games! https://t.co/VMi2TJuLR1

Dreams do come true!! So grateful for the Washington Football Team believing in me! Thank you to all my family, friends, and fans who have supported me in my journey. I’m ready to go to work and make y’all proud! @WashingtonNFL pic.twitter.com/SdVLgt96iM

Seen a few fans question/worried about Cosmi's toughness, which seems insane to me. Watch him pick up a nickel blitz and make the DB regret it pic.twitter.com/qfqNOLk0PL

Tis the season for draft grades and one element I wanted to account for was quantity of premium picks.
— Dan Hatman (@Dan_Hatman) May 2, 2021
The average is 4 picks in the top 125.
These teams had above that:
7 picks - JAX / MIN
6 picks - DAL / DET
5 picks - ATL / CIN / LAC / MIA / TEN/ WAS
It was clear that #WashingtonFootall had a certain type of player they were looking for this weekend.

Check out my thoughts on Washington’s first four selections of the #NFLDraft. #SpeedKills #WFTPods

It's a bit of both. RAS by itself is meant to be a contextualization of player testing by comparing them to players at their position up to their draft year.
— Kent Lee Platte (@MathBomb) May 2, 2021
It HAS, however, shown a pretty strong correlation to NFL success for most positions, using several metrics to gauge it. https://t.co/gyJxpKPExb
That's a lot of green.

Overall average of the class: 8.453
(If my math is correct . Milne hurt the average) https://t.co/4AWpqZxuIV
Fwiw:

If you include Sammis Reyes with this draft class (I mean, he is technically a rookie) this average bumps up to 8.594 https://t.co/hDTsDZ1W6J
John Bates was drafted with pick 124 of round 4 in the 2021 draft class. He scored a 6.79 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 299 out of 929 TE from 1987 to 2021. https://t.co/kuHnTbKRzA #RAS via @Mathbomb https://t.co/GFejsldQiN pic.twitter.com/Zd3habxE1p

Last year, 52 of 255 drafted NFL players logged at least 500 snaps.
— Sheil Kapadia (@SheilKapadia) May 2, 2021
In other words, about 20% had prominent roles as rookies.
Something to consider when thinking about immediate impact in 2021. Contributing right away is hard.
The Cowboys drafted 8 of 11 players on defense. They want the rookies to come in and win jobs. The vets with higher salaries are on notice

This was my most controversial chart of the 2020 NFL draft: Draft Capital Over Expected (#GrindingTheMocks Expected Draft Position vs. Actual Draft Slot) by team in the 2021 NFL draft. Low doesn't mean your team is bad only that their drafting process might be questionable! pic.twitter.com/8rqvRDJMTD
— Benjamin Robinson (@benj_robinson) May 2, 2021
#2 in all-purpose yards in NFL history, behind Jerry Rice. Shoulda been 1st ballot HOF.

Take 2 sans typo:
— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) May 3, 2021
This is tremendous. I’m told a group of #49ers players called Kyle Shanahan today to let him know they survived until Sunday. So good.
