Because Steven Montez wasn’t eligible for minicamp today, Washington brought in Jordan Ta’amu to act as their QB today. Weirdly enough, Taylor Heinicke was his backup in the XFL

Take care of him. Top 5 Slot cb who got paid like it. Flores comes here and scheme pushes him back to safety. Where he was just above avg, he was a team captain and everything. All love. pic.twitter.com/by3u9pIl4q

Bobby McCain was No. 2 in defensive snaps for a 2020 Dolphins team that was No. 1 in NFL in 3rd-down defense. He's 27, has been mostly durable & has position flex (can play nickel CB). He, Deshazor Everett & Jeremy Reaves give #WFT the most depth the team has had at FS in years.
— Al Galdi (@AlGaldi) May 14, 2021
With Bobby McCain now in Washington, the team employs two of Miami's captains from the 2020 season. Both McCain and Ryan Fitzpatrick wore the C for the Dolphins last year

Did they just learn today or yesterday Montez wasn’t eligible?
— King of DC Sports (@dcsportsking) May 14, 2021
Why was Ta'amu allowed to tryout, but not the 4 players originally scheduled that didn't test positive?

As the only RB practicing today, Patterson is getting a lot of individual coaching from Jordan and King. After working on handoffs, they just started on footwork. pic.twitter.com/y86qNWQND8

It’s just a blessing to be here!! I kinda like how that 35 look also!! https://t.co/PkF363wFnf
— Jaret Patterson (@__JP26) May 14, 2021
Also, didn't see what I wanted out of Dyami Brown. Dropped a ball. Expected more speed, but it was a limited drill. Sammis Reyes is a nice tight end. Very similar to Bates. There's a place for both. Like Jaret Patterson's attention to detail in drills.

#WFT Head Coach Ron Rivera on what it is like coaching a guy like Sammis Reyes:
— All-Pro Reels (@allproreels) May 15, 2021
“This is a guy that has a special skillset that we believe will fit it and we're going to work with him as much as we can to give him every opportunity to grow and become a player in this league." pic.twitter.com/vmHIjCxEyp

— Washington Football Team (@WashingtonNFL) May 15, 2021
Buzz-kill. "Don't count on Reyes to be an instant-impact player. The Chilean sensation was eager to learn, but barring a miraculous leap, he’ll be a practice squad player in 2021." https://t.co/YjmkCfLmkt

It’s a small group of players out here for Washington’s rookie minicamp. The rookies are showing that they are just that as well. Nice plays are being made, but also followed by drops and uncertainty at times.

#WFT Head Coach Ron Rivera On WR Dyami Brown and where he will play:
— All-Pro Reels (@allproreels) May 14, 2021

Benjamin St. Juste thread:
— Nick Akridge (@PFF_NickAkridge) May 14, 2021
Last season at Minnesota, he finished with a 72.4 grade (282 snaps) allowing 11 catches on 20 targets for 184 yards and 1 TD.
The first thing you notice about him is the wingspan. He's built like a basketball player and uses that to his advantage.
Closing speed and long arms allow him to easily break the ball up at the catch point.
— Nick Akridge (@PFF_NickAkridge) May 14, 2021
The second play was called for pass interference but there's no convincing me that was a good call. pic.twitter.com/R9fi0KmWpl
I do really like him out in open space, taking on blocks and reacting to screens.
— Nick Akridge (@PFF_NickAkridge) May 14, 2021
First play, sheds the WR block quickly and wraps up.
Second play, he instantly reacts to the bubble screen, sets the edge and pushes his blocker into the WR pic.twitter.com/lPljgAhVC1
Ron Rivera running a professional operation, that’s unfamiliar here

Before Ron Rivera stepped foot in the facility in Ashburn he praised competition.
— Ryan Fowler (@FowlerRyan1) May 14, 2021
In just 16 months, Rivera has infused a once slow, aging roster with vibrant, hungry talent where snaps are earned, never given. Washington is a shell of it’s pre-Rivera roster.
Remarkable.
Common theme among players signed and drafted by #WFT : Tremendous respect for Ron Rivera, connection with him as a man and a leader.
— John Tayman (@BangRadioHour) May 14, 2021
Quality high character players coming in specifically to play for him.
No big Danny wine-n-dines, no huge overbids.

Landon Collins is a 16.9 mil cap hit in 2021. No one on the roster should be competition for him, but they all are, and that’s the problem.
