In 1972, the Washington Redskins did not have a draft pick in the top 200. This remains the lowest draft value any team has had in any year since the common draft of 1967.

And yet, in 1972, Washington made it to the Super Bowl. pic.twitter.com/ckGZVlgUzl

Per @JFowlerESPN/@DanGrazianoESPN: #WFT "has done legwork on a potential trade up, making phone calls to teams in or around the top 10. We've talked to a few personnel evaluators who think Washington's target is not a quarterback." https://t.co/hQwGWCYtyf
— Burgundy Blog (@BurgundyBlog) April 28, 2021
Also: "If (#WFT) stays put at No. 19, keep an eye out for TCU safety Trevon Moehrig as a possibility. We're told Washington likes him a lot. He's expected to be the first safety off the board."
— Burgundy Blog (@BurgundyBlog) April 28, 2021

Other than Mac Jones, no player in the draft has seen his stock rise over the past few months more than Jaycee Horn
— Eric Eager (@PFF_Eric) April 28, 2021
Fwiw, it's been reported out that Christian Darrisaw had core surgery during the pre-draft process. Heard this several weeks ago myself. Carry on.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) April 28, 2021
One of the draft’s curiosities is Virginia Tech highly rated OT Christian Darrisaw. A reason why is that he played with a significant groin injury late in 2020 and quietly had surgery to repair a core muscle injury in January, source said. He did position drills at his Pro Day.

presenting the WR class of 2019:
25 Marquise Brown
32 N'Keal Harry
36 Deebo Samuel
51 AJ Brown
56 Mecole Hardman
57 JJ Arcega-Whiteside
59 Parris Campbell
62 Andy Isabella
64 DK Metcalf
and teams had MUCH MORE INFO on players then
Atlanta is expected to stay put at 4 and take TE Kyle Pitts, per @JFowlerESPN & @DanGrazianoESPN

"Over the last 24 hours, I'm told that Kyle Shanahan is coming off his staunch stance on Mac Jones – and it seems that the scouting department is at least bending his ear to listen to why Trey Lance should be the pick." Tony Pauline ⬇️⬇️https://t.co/xLDBpqZsoK

The #Panthers are trading QB Teddy Bridgewater to the #Broncos for a sixth-round draft pick, per source.
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) April 28, 2021
I’m again impressed with George Paton. He got a QB for the price (3 mill) of a lot of backups in the NFL. He still remains in play for a QB at 9 to draft and sit. And if he doesn’t, he has Lock and Bridgewater compete. Whoever wins, Denver is in a better spot than 2020.Impressive
— James Palmer (@JamesPalmerTV) April 28, 2021
Hey, #Bears fans: Teddy Bridgewater was apparently available for a 6th round pick!
— Mike Tanier (@MikeTanier) April 28, 2021
This should tell you all you need to know about Justin Fields’ or Trey Lance’s potential availability at 9th overall. It probably ain’t happening. https://t.co/jJEduAe874
— Brett Kollmann (@BrettKollmann) April 28, 2021
If they trade for Jimmy G, and the Broncos just got Bridgewater, it’s not crazy to think that Washington MIGHT be in the running for a QB now in the 1st....2 of the 5 top QBs will fall past 8 unless Chicago and someone else trades up.
— Sean (@FlSkinsFan4Life) April 29, 2021
If you don’t realize this weekend ends with the Patriots getting Jimmy G back on a reduced salary for a late round pick I can’t help you.
— Ross Tucker (@RossTuckerNFL) April 29, 2021
Jason Campbell discussed his draft day memories - positive for him; not so much for some teammates. Also, he discussed Justin Fields and why he’d be a good fit here. (I do think Fields and not Lance would be the target if he falls). https://t.co/2GQijf29rp pic.twitter.com/Xy4HuIkAOh

Situation 1, November 2019 ... Fields sprained his MCL against Penn State, and started the next week against Michigan. In that game, got that knee rolled up on, went into tent. Had a bulky brace put over it.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) April 28, 2021
Comes out of the tent. Next throw ...pic.twitter.com/0g5CqLXwvn
So here's the thing—these happened in the biggest games of the year. A lot on the line. Team needed him. He answered the bell. And so, like I said, I think that this all feels sort of like Justin Herbert last year, with people staring at small pictures, missing the big picture.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) April 28, 2021
Keep thinking about the timing of the Ereck Flowers trade. Talks didn't start this week, but completed 2 days before the draft. The Brandon Scherff contract situation seems stuck at a minimum and there are OL in this draft they like.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) April 29, 2021
Not sure if important, but interesting. https://t.co/iTyxP1BFAZ
Chasing down Washington's first-round scenarios was much easier last year.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) April 28, 2021
Rivera has been a head coach for 10 drafts. FWIW, those classes include zero offensive linemen in R1, but three in R2.
— Burgundy Blog (@BurgundyBlog) April 29, 2021
Maybe... maybe... maybe... maybe............ they'll grab some Chipotle as teammates soon? https://t.co/8EKRAiwZ3X

Fun fact: In their time general managers, Washington EVP Marty Hurney (CAR 2002-12, 2017-20), GM Martin Mayhew (DET 2009-15) and coach Ron Rivera (WAS 2020) have drafted 11 different 1st-team All-Pros and 17 Pro Bowlers who earned those accolades with the teams that drafted them.

I’ll never forget a Lambeau Field Draft party going on below us with 1,000 people. The thunderous boos from there when we picked Aaron Rodgers literally shook our souls. And we got an F from most media grades. And Brett was mad. And the coaches are mad. But we trusted the Board.

Is Saquon Barkley's option number a fair value for the player considering where he was drafted? Probably not.https://t.co/ccSIMX5wZj
— Jason_OTC (@Jason_OTC) April 28, 2021
I dont think you can discount them picking a QB this year
— Jason_OTC (@Jason_OTC) April 28, 2021
So overall the drafts wind up with the same value overall when taking positions out of the mix. There are however occasional first round disasters
— Jason_OTC (@Jason_OTC) April 28, 2021
The numbers were salvaged a bit if we go to 64 picks but that was the one year where if a team had a crystal ball in their scouting in 2012 that it was probably fair to dump a future 1 in a trade.

Lamar Jackson offered a man $100 if he could tell him his name.
— Jamison Hensley (@jamisonhensley) April 28, 2021
The man guessed Jackson played football. The position? “You’re probably a wide receiver,” he said.
Jackson still gave him the money.

Marty Foster just did this in an MLB game. This is a complete joke. NOTHING will come of this. He won't be asked about it. He won't address it. And baseball will not care about it at all. pic.twitter.com/1ZMQHpSzzR
