Player Overview
Samuel Cosmi is a three-year left tackle starter for the University of Texas Longhorns. He was an undersized 3-star prospect coming out of high school who flashed top-level ability since his freshman season in college where he started at right tackle. In 2019, he showed enough improvement to move to left tackle. He earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors that season as he helped quarterback Sam Ehlinger throw for the second-most passing yards in school history. He ended the 2020 collegiate season earning All-Big 12 First Team honors. Cosmi enters the draft as one of the boom-or-bust prospects in a deep offensive tackle class.
Strengths
- Versatile at both tackle positions. Started most games at left tackle (21 games) but has experience at right tackle (14 games).

- Good fundamentals at pass and run blocking. Uses his athleticism to cover his mistakes.
Weaknesses
- His performance varies wildly from spectacular to pedestrian.
- Sometimes relies too much on his athletic gifts to win.
- Does not bend his knees consistently.
- Inconsistent effort.
Let’s See His Work
Cosmi’s playing number is #52:

This is the highest #RAS for a OT using official testing numbers (and may move up to 10.00 again).https://t.co/KIeGKJDQQm pic.twitter.com/pxsILWuz1l
How Would He Fit
Washington’s offensive line played better than expected last year. According to Pro-Football Focus, Washington had the 6th best offensive line in the league with the team shuffling through a platoon of tackles. At the moment, Washington has Moses penciled in at right tackle and Cornelius Lucas and Saahdiq Charles as possible candidates for left tackle. The Football Team needs a long-term solution for either position in the near future. Adding Cosmi not only provides depth and insurance as a swing tackle but also another prospect to become the eventual starter at either tackle position. Cosmi is a great prospect to start immediately or sit for a few games to develop.
