Sunday-Funday Washington Football Team Mock Draft

A Trade Back you say?

NCAA Football: Kentucky at Florida Gainesville Sun-USA TODAY NETWORK

Welcome to Sunday-Funday Mock Draft edition!

What better is there to do on a mild, yet dreary Sunday in mid April, than a mock draft?

In this latest edition, I used the NFL Mock Draft Database simulator(which I now view as the most realistic...and YES, I’ve used them ALL). You can see the results here.

My goal was to maximize value while adding quality value vs. need prospects for the Washington Football Team.

I went into this draft with a trade mentality(either up OR back), and I pulled off this beauty with the Chiefs, who desperately wanted to move up for an offensive lineman - seeing what happened to them in the Super Bowl; as Mahomes scrambled for more yards BEHIND the line of scrimmage than what he threw for.

TRADE:

  • Washington Receives:

2021: Round 1, Pick 31

2021: Round 2, Pick 63

  • Kansas City Receives:

2021: Round 1, Pick 19

*At the 19th spot, Kansas City selected USC Offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker.

Washington Football Team Selections:

  • Round: 1 #31

Jamin Davis LB | Kentucky (TRADE)

- Davis is an athletic freak with the ability to transition well in today’s NFL as an off-the-ball linebacker. At a chiseled 6’3” 234 pounds with sub 4.4 speed, Davis can shoot a gap, drop effectively into zone coverage or carry a RB or TE vertically in the passing game. He will be an immediate starter at outside linebacker with future All-Pro potential. His comp is Colts All-Pro Darrius Leonard.

  • Round: 2 #51

Brevin Jordan TE | Miami (FL)

- Jordan is a mismatch threat wherever he lines up on the field. Not only is he an accomplished route runner from a flexed position, but he can line up in-line and be an effective blocker. The 6’3” 247 pounder ran a 4.64 40 and jumped nearly 10 feet in the broad at Miami’s Pro Day.

  • Round: 2 #63

Walker Little OT | Stanford (TRADE)

- Little opted out of the 2020 college football season to concentrate on the draft. Prior to 2020, he sustained a knee injury that forced him to miss all but one game that season. Many forgot about the Stanford giant, UNTIL he came out and showed off at Stanford’s Pro Day. The 6’7” 313 pounder ran a 5.26 40 and had a vertical of 30”. He can project to either left or right tackle in the NFL.

  • Round: 3 #74

Davis Mills QB | Stanford

- Much like Little, the 6’4” 217 pound Mills has also battled injuries. He previously suffered two knee injuries, one during his senior year of high school and one while at Stanford. However, he came out at Stanford’s Pro Day and showed he was fully healthy, running a 4.58 40 and completing 50 of 54 passes in the wind and rain.

  • Round: 3 #82

Nico Collins WR | Michigan

- Collins was another athlete who chose to sit out the 2020 college football season. The 6’4” 215 pounder posted a blazing 4.42 40 and an absurd 6.78 3-cone drill at his Pro Day last month. He’s an outside force with great deep-ball tracking and high-point ability.

  • Round: 4 #124

Kary Vincent Jr. CB | LSU

- At just 5’10” 185 pounds, Vincent isn’t the biggest prospect, but he possesses elite athleticism(4.33 40 and a 35.5 inch vert) and could play either corner or free safety at the next level.

  • Round: 5 #163

Damar Hamlin S | Pittsburgh

- The 6’1” 195 pounder ran a 4.59 40 at Pitt’s Pro Day, and his film shows good single-high ability with solid tackling. He could provide early special flexibility with future starting potential.

  • Round: 7 #244

Tarron Jackson EDGE | Coastal Carolina

- The Costal Carolina EDGE rusher is a solid athlete who can be part of a DE rotation and special teams contributor.

  • Round: 7 #246

Pooka Williams Jr. RB | Kansas

- Williams may be small in stature, but he offers some third down ability and could factor into the kick return game.
