We are literally asking all fans for their input on our new name!
You have until April 5 to submit your suggested team names at https://t.co/UYPQTBGZTn! pic.twitter.com/6fpslN1D0g
Fred Smoot initially sold me on Redwolves, but I've since decided Wolves is the play. No need to cram "Red" at the start of the name and try to force a connection to an animal this area isn't really connected to. Also, Washington Wolves is quite smooth https://t.co/FcSmRZQlFJ

On reuniting with Ryan Fitzpatrick: "Fitzy makes the game fun. ... He brings a good attitude toward every situation. He's still slinging it."
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) March 29, 2021
Was just looking at some offensive stats. Since 2000, Washington has finished 20th or lower in points per game 15 times. They’ve had two top 10 finishes in this stretch. Two. ... 8 times 20th or lower in yards per game; 3 times in the top 10. Yes, a fun offense would be welcomed.
— John Keim (@john_keim) March 29, 2021
Looking ahead: Among the areas Washington still wants to address, whether now, during the draft or after -- free safety, left tackle, tight end, linebacker, running back and a dual returner. At running back it's for depth, but they need starters at the... https://t.co/WoKmEPmB2A
— John Keim (@john_keim) March 29, 2021
The first two are backups. Have been saying that they like Charles at guard tho they think he can also play tackle.
— John Keim (@john_keim) March 29, 2021
Cool. They think otherwise because they’re looking for a legit starter. He did better than expected. He’s not viewed as a long term guy. ♂️
— John Keim (@john_keim) March 29, 2021
What can I say , they’re not making a decision based off someone else’s grade. I watched/re-watched the games; he was better than expected and wasn’t the reason they lost. He’s also just OK. Again, those who make decisions disagree with u. Can argue but it’s what they want.
— John Keim (@john_keim) March 29, 2021
The way Washington is being built, they won’t have the “luxury” of selecting inside the top 10 next year - likely bettering their 7-9 2020 record ...which means possibly having to make a move up for a QB in 2022 if they don’t do so this draft.
— Mark Tyler(Hogs Haven) (@Tiller56) March 29, 2021
Pay the piper now or later folks
Hot Take: Developmental QBs are a poor use of resources in the 2nd and 3rd round.
— George Carmi (@Gcarmi21) March 22, 2021
As opposed to finding a potential starter for the rest of the unit, you are rolling the dice on a QB (a very difficult pick to nail down) and having them incubate on the bench for at least a year. https://t.co/lEgTvbI5kI
Ha. I have been saying for a while they will keep looking at a qb in the draft.
— John Keim (@john_keim) March 29, 2021
Have said any round. But that it doesn’t have to be the first. Have hit hard on day 2 because I know that’s a strong option.
— John Keim (@john_keim) March 29, 2021
Are we witnessing the fastest draft class ever?? https://t.co/LcXqHznQen
— Robbie Duncan (@RobbieDuncanOL) March 29, 2021
Jones fits that traditional mold of Shanahan system QB perfectly. Just enough mobility, good but not great arm, sound decision maker that can understand and process the pre-snap info Kyle schemes him and distribute ball quickly to the right target consistently. However...
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) March 29, 2021
I wonder if the Shanahan tree guys (McVay, Kyle) have seen the difference between a QB that can run the system efficiently (Goff, Jimmy G, Cousins etc) and having a great QB in that system with LeFleur working with Rodgers in Green Bay, which has prompted them to take big swings
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) March 29, 2021
When I watched Fields, he jumped out to me as a guy I’d love to see in that Shanahan system. I even mentioned that when I wrote about him (https://t.co/2l6jXdiFvh) The mobility factor is huge. The ability to throw on the run is hugely effective off that outside zone scheme pic.twitter.com/SNQAN2dNrw
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) March 29, 2021
My main concern with Fields after watching him was that he might struggle to keep himself safe from a protection standpoint. Had some brutal hits standing in the pocket and not working hot when he should have. Correctable, but I wrote I think he’d need some time to fix that. pic.twitter.com/9zu2RihmyA
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) March 29, 2021
Obviously, the ability to work off-script is huge in the modern NFL and something Fields could offer with more upside than Jones with his mobility. But Fields also expands the playbook and allows Shanahan to dig out the 2012 RG3 read-option stuff. Get to play 11-on-11 in run game
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) March 29, 2021
And when teams sold out on the run, Kyle hardly had to try with the play-action passing game off it. Destroyed teams with, a lot of the time, just one play. Drift. Pierre Garçon averaged 14.4 yards per catch that year, 2nd best in his career, largely thanks to that route. pic.twitter.com/yOGHg3no33
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) March 29, 2021
I did an entire thread (linked below), on that package of plays Shanahan had built around the read-option in 2012. Fields could easily run this exact same package of plays and is very much capable of doing even more. https://t.co/1uVQrpqjpL
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) March 29, 2021
And for Fields, the 49ers is a perfect fit for him. Gets to sit for a year to learn protections and blitz packages, which he needs. Gets an HC that will script him up some fantastic looks and give him plenty of options. Potential is huge. But who knows, maybe Kyle loves Jones..

Just mentioned this on @GetUpESPN: Talked to three NFL GMs about the market for Sam Darnold. I asked what’s the most they’d be willing to give up: Two said a 3rd Rd pick — with one saying even a late 3rd would be “a little rich.” The other GM said “maybe” a 3rd or conditional 4th
— Kimberley A. Martin (@ByKimberleyA) March 29, 2021
... I was repeatedly told whoever trades for Darnold likely won’t pick up his option this spring. So, you’d only have a year of him in a new org, in a new system, working w/ new teammates while he’s trying to figure it all out *and* the team is trying to work out his bad habits
— Kimberley A. Martin (@ByKimberleyA) March 29, 2021
It’s become a non-story when a QB restructures his contract, which is why we’ve noticed what’s going on in with Aaron Rodgers, who hasn’t done that deed:@AlbertBreer told us what’s up in Green Bay:#NFL #NFLFreeAgency #NFLDraft pic.twitter.com/TARUWHBvis
