With the new league year upon us, teams can use a post-June 1 designation when releasing a player. This spreads the dead money over two seasons & affords more cap space, which is useful with the lower salary cap.
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) March 17, 2021
However, that cap space won’t be available to use until June 2.
With the start of the new league year, Jonathan Allen's $10.051 million salary (fifth-year option) is now fully guaranteed.
— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) March 17, 2021
Per the @NFL; 541 players are officially free agents
— Pro Football Network (@PFN365) March 17, 2021
Teams have the following time period to sign free agents:
Restricted FA: March 17-April 23
Unrestricted FA: March 17-July 22
Franchise players: March 17 to Tuesday after Week 10
Transition players: March 17-July 22
While we await Washington's next free agency move, here's my breakdowns on the first two signings -
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) March 17, 2021
Ryan Fitzpatrick: https://t.co/ofIoEQmTmj
William Jackson III: https://t.co/rkgI4L20Ph
If they do it again tonight, it better be Curtis Samuel, at least I know his game and have clips saved already
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) March 17, 2021
You guys can try and sell me on Fitz all day long, but I’ve never been a fan of his play - so it’s not going to change my mind
— Mark Tyler(Hogs Haven) (@Tiller56) March 17, 2021
I apologize, that after 20+ yrs of dysfunction, that I was/am looking for more - but I’m not about to pretend to be excited over something I’m not https://t.co/VbCb54bJmM
Former Panthers’ WR Curtis Samuel is signing a three-year, $34.5 million deal with Washington, per source. https://t.co/MtiJltnecK
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 17, 2021
I FEEL MUCH BETTER!!!!!
— Mark Tyler(Hogs Haven) (@Tiller56) March 18, 2021
You're right. That was fun.
— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 18, 2021
McLaurin is happy https://t.co/IyCCTtm7JC
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) March 18, 2021
— Curtis Samuel (@CurtisSamuel4__) March 18, 2021
Don’t know why but this is the first play I remember when I think of Curtis Samuel.
— Ethan Cadeaux (@Ethan_Cadeaux) March 18, 2021
Absolutely dusted Fabian Moreau in Carolina’s 2019 matchup vs. Washington. The QB - ironically, Kyle Allen - just missed him. But look at that speed pic.twitter.com/zAZs09zF5D
Checking Twitter and seeing Washington signed Curtis Samuel pic.twitter.com/ALclRPb4CS
— Washington Football Talk (@WFTPod) March 18, 2021
Curtis Samuel and Terry McLaurin in Washington with Ryan Fitzpatrick is pure entertainment. Just speed and a QB with zero f—ks left to give.
— Robert Mays (@robertmays) March 18, 2021
Signing Curtis Samuel was an A+ signing by Ron Rivera and the front office , Samuel will bring much needed speed and versatility to this offense this year is gonna be special I can feel it #WashingtonFootball

— Parris Campbell (@PCampbell21) March 18, 2021
The Washington Football Team has done a nice job in FA. I think they win the division again.
— Pete Prisco (@PriscoCBS) March 18, 2021
And some guy named Logan :) https://t.co/lPygE7xR0r
— BGObsession (@BGObsession) March 18, 2021
Washington has versatility with Gibson, McKissic and now Samuel. They really need another pass-catching TE to take more advantage. Then Can use 2 TE sets with two backs (Gibson/McKissic) and a WR (Samuel). Makes it hard for D's if stay in base and Wash goes empty.
— John Keim (@john_keim) March 18, 2021
They were the Washington Football Team in 2020, but in 2021, they are gonna look a lot more like the Washington Complete Football Team. This offense has the talent to do damage on its own, as opposed to relying on the defense to be on its A-game

What is Washington getting in new WR Curtis Samuel?
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) March 18, 2021
-Speed
-Explosiveness
-Versatility

The #Giants have been in talks with #Lions star FA WR Kenny Golladay, source said, and expect them to bring him in for a visit prior to signing him to a deal. There is mutual interest.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 17, 2021
The Bengals have offered Kenny Golladay a one-year, prove-it type of deal, per sources. He was with Cincinnati OC Brian Callahan in Detroit when Golladay was a rookie. https://t.co/qJpVOG3R2b
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) March 17, 2021
The free agent visit with Kenny Golladay (as @RapSheet noted) is to address some of those questions. The Giants need to make sure his hip and the way it ended for him in Detroit isn't a problem. A signing probably wouldn't happened without it. https://t.co/XHTigWvONv
— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) March 17, 2021
No they’re not. He’s not a speed guy. And they don’t consider him as a starter. Just relaying what I know. They do like him as a “football player”
— John Keim (@john_keim) March 17, 2021
Curious how AGG develops. ...But speed is the desired addition. https://t.co/ufZ8cbSTPK
— John Keim (@john_keim) March 17, 2021
William Jackson has allowed the lowest completion percentage (49.4%) and 2nd-lowest average target separation (2.2 yards) in coverage since entering the NFL in 2017.

J.C. Jackson is 6'1", 25 years old, had 9 INTs and 14 PBUs in 2020.
— Riggo's Rag (@RiggosRag) March 17, 2021
Could potentially be had for a 2nd-round pick if the Patriots don't match any qualifying offers.
Not realistic, but fun to think about a secondary that has J.C. Jackson, William Jackson, and Kendall Fuller. https://t.co/i0uSjkf9Xt

The best OTs left on the market for the Chiefs are....Mitchell Schwartz and Eric Fisher
— Jon Ledyard (@LedyardNFLDraft) March 17, 2021
Fisher tore his Achilles. The Chiefs can't afford to wait till Nov/Dec for him to return.
— .Akr (@Akr_Baby) March 17, 2021
Schwartz suffered a back injury that made him miss 10 games + playoffs. Those type of back injuries are often career enders for big men.
That's a lot of money for guys you cant use.
