Ron Rivera time. Rivera says he'd like to see Chase Young react less to the chipper on blocks.

Ron Rivera addressing the media. On Chase Young, Rivera said he wants to pay a little more attention on chip blocks, which offenses have done more often this season. Young and Rivera also talked about him diving inside a little too much, which he knows Young is working on.

Rivera said there's even more pressure on Young now that Montez Sweat will be missing time. He wants Young to go out and be who he is and use his skillset, which he called "tremendous."

Logan Thomas:
Ron Rivera said the plan today was to see where TE Logan Thomas is at with his hamstring. They planned to really work him today and see how his body reacted to it tomorrow, and if all checks out, he'll practice Wednesday.

Third downs:
Rivera said there are some things the defense can do to help itself on third downs, most notably having better first and second downs. Too often, Rivera said, the unit found itself in third-and-short situations.

Washington has certainly had third-down troubles on both sides. But Ron believes, after doing a mid-year eval, that those issues can stem from second down mishaps. On offense for example, he thinks they’re missing on some second-and-shorts, which is setting up third-down mistakes pic.twitter.com/L7WquEuZEA

Learning and growing:
Rivera: "Just because you take a step backward, doesn't mean you're not learning and growing."
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) November 8, 2021
Rivera: I still believe this team can develop and grow and get to where I think they can be.

William Jackson III:
Ron Rivera said CB William Jackson III was dealing with a knee issue in training camp and it flared up recently. He was out in Weeks 7-8 because of the injury, but Rivera said he had a good day of practice today.
