Washington Roster Moves: Keith Ismael signed from the practice squad

Offensive line depth is needed

NFL: Washington Football Team at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Chase Roullier suffered a fractured fibula on Sunday and was placed on injured reserve two days ago. He is expected to have surgery after getting a second opinion to assess any additional damage to his leg. Washington didn't add an offensive lineman on Tuesday, instead they activated rookie safety Darrick Forrest before his 21-day window expired for his return from IR.

News came out yesterday that DE Montez Sweat was also injured during Sunday's loss to the Broncos. He suffered a hairline jaw fracture, and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Washington did not officially place him on injured reserve yet, but that move will likely happen today.

Washington just announced one official move, they are signing 2nd-year center Keith Ismael from the practice squad. He was elevated for the last two games, and was not eligible to be called up again without being signed. Ismael played 3 snaps at guard this week In place of Ereck Flowers who suffered a leg injury. That is 1 less snap than he played his entire rookie season.

Ismael will be new starting center Tyler Larsen's primary backup, but will also be available to play guard if anyone else gets injured. Flowers is expected to play after the bye week, and Brandon Scherff should also be back from a knee injury that caused him to miss the last 4 games.
