Ron Rivera seemed to be holding two pressers simultaneously today. News broke about an hour ago that Head Athletic Trainer Ryan Vermillion was placed on administrative leave, the team’s training facility(and Vermillion’s home) was raided by the DEA and local authorities, and he is under criminal investigation. Rivera defer to the team’s official statement, and wouldn’t bite on multiple questions from local reporters on the issue with his long-time trainer.
The Washington Football Team came out of Atlanta with another come from behind win, but also left hobbled with injuries. Reports were coming out all morning about multiple injured players, but Rivera clarified a few statuses. CB Torry McTyer was injured on the last play, a hail mary attempt by the Falcons, and will be placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL. Jon Bostic reportedly had a serious pec injury, and will likely miss the rest of the season as well.
Rivera was asked about RG Brandon Scherff who will reportedly miss 2-3 weeks with a sprained MCL. Rivera said Wes Schweitzer will take over the position while Washington’s franchise player is on the shelf. Logan Thomas was another starter who left yesterday’s game. He is reportedly week-to-week with a hamstring injury. Rivera said rookie Sammis Reyes will suit up this week, which likely means Thomas gets at least a week off to recover. Players like Khaleke Hudson, Jamin Davis, and David Mayo will get more reps with Bostic out. Saahdiq Charles is another reserve player who will be active this week for depth with Scherff out.
Oh and Dustin Hopkins is the kicker so stop asking about it already!
