Wow - Washington cut Dustin Hopkins. Blewitt is the new kicker
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) October 20, 2021
We got a kicker from Pitt named Blewitt, next year we get a QB from Pitt named Pickett?
— Dre (@DCSportsDre) October 20, 2021
If Ron Rivera now is truly in the mood to make change, let’s do Landon Collins next. #WashingtonFootball
— Al Galdi (@AlGaldi) October 20, 2021
This is a big roll of the dice. While many of you wanted a change, we all saw the inconsistency, Washington now has a PK who has not attempted a FG in a game since 2016. Was a 69.6 percent kicker in college. We shall soon see if he's improved -- and an improvement.
— John Keim (@john_keim) October 20, 2021
I've always thought the Hopkins "problem" was overblown because it's going to be hard to find a kicker that is better than him. Cutting kickers mid-season has almost never worked out. Here's to hoping Washington is different!
— Nick Akridge (@PFF_NickAkridge) October 20, 2021
Can you upgrade on roughly league average? Sure, during the offseason. Can draft a guy, maybe find a free agent, hold camp competitions etc. During the season? Unlikely to find a kicker off the street that is above league average. Makes this a risky move
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 20, 2021
Washington's defense is terrible.
— Eat Sleep WFT (@WFTTalk) October 20, 2021
Washington's offense has fallen off a cliff.
But sure, let's cut the kicker. It's his fault.
Washington Football Franchise

Week 6 - With all these bad headlines, maybe retiring Sean Taylor's number this Sunday would be a good idea
Week 7 - With the offense & defense struggling, maybe cutting the kicker will make fans feel like we're taking action. pic.twitter.com/enKmqk7Pwz
Washington has signed WR Kelvin Harmon to the practice squad.
— Washington Football PR (@Wash_PR) October 20, 2021
The #WashingtonFootball Team is playing this weird bit/dance of cutting guys one day, bringing them back the next and not from the active/53 to practice squad.
— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) October 20, 2021
Blewitt out last week off PS -- now on 53.
Kelvin Harmon cut from PS Tues, back on PS today.
I have nothing.
To be clear, among kickers with 3+ FGA on the year Dustin Hopkins is tied for 5th in FG%.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) October 20, 2021
He’s the exact same 12-14 as Graham Gano who had made 35+ until his first miss a few weeks ago dating back to last season.
This isn’t some made up take. It’s math.
I get the move. Certainly do. But…
— Pete Hailey (@PeteHaileyNBCS) October 20, 2021
1) The Kicker Abyss is dark and deep. This might be the beginning of a long hunt
2) If you want to hold Hop accountable – which is certainly necessary! – will other underperforming players be benched/dropped too? https://t.co/Zz1mWh52uC
I don't think Blewitt has kicked in a game since Dec. 2016, when Pitt lost to Northwestern in the Pinstripe Bowl.
— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) October 20, 2021
Mark my words if Blewitt's 1st kickoff goes to the 5 and is returned to the 32 fans will be screaming about the Hopkins release
— Mark Phillips (@FballTeamReview) October 20, 2021
A Blewitt debut and a Cheeseman snapping in Green Bay. The NFL literally just served you a masterpiece.
— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) October 20, 2021
It doesn’t make sense to break up a young ascending defense for an overpaid, underperforming unit where obvious changes aren’t being made. If DHop can be released than others should at least be benched. I could care less how much $$ a player is making if they aren’t performing.
— Lake Lewis Jr (@LakeLewis) October 20, 2021
You've horribly misquoted Ron Rivera. This quote is from his introductory press conference:
— Bill-in-Bangkok (@billhorgan2005) October 21, 2021
"I told [Dan Snyder] I didn’t want to go through a five-year rebuilding process because quite honestly, I don’t have the patience and from what I read, neither does he." https://t.co/fR3hKgWg3S
On the side field: WR Curtis Samuel, WR Terry McLaurin, WR Cam Sims, OL Charles Leno, Jr, TE Ricky Seals-Jones. Don’t see: OT Sam Cosmi. RB Antonio Gibson with the Backs but not practicing.
— John Keim (@john_keim) October 20, 2021
Scherff never went on IR, so he would be eligible to play. Also put here is tight ends coach Pete Hoener, who missed Sunday’s game because of covid. https://t.co/8NUvfomzkZ
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) October 20, 2021
Sources tell PFN Insider @TonyPauline that #Dolphins HC Brian Flores and GM Chris Grier are on the hot seat and there are people in the organization who have given up on Tua Tagovailoa.
— Pro Football Network (@PFN365) October 21, 2021
This, and much more, below.https://t.co/jcs5eml59P
In regards to the #Texans closing in on a deal that would send Deshaun Watson to the Miami #Dolphins, I am hearing that it could be a three team deal that would send Tua Tagovailoa to the Washington Football Team.
— Coty M. Davis (@CotyDavis_24) October 20, 2021
I think it'd be Washington for Tua despite internet rumors of Denver
— Benjamin Allbright (@AllbrightNFL) October 20, 2021
I know for a fact Washington has inquired. Whether or not that ultimately happens, who knows.
— Benjamin Allbright (@AllbrightNFL) October 20, 2021
A lot of people around the league expected it to happen. https://t.co/wsNfjYhOJ3
This isn’t posturing. Washington not interested in Tua. But I also know they don’t love any of the 2022 QB draft prospects and Washington will look high and low for QB.

Currently on a three-game losing streak, are the Carolina #Panthers prepared to move away from Sam Darnold in favor of Deshaun Watson?
— Pro Football Network (@PFN365) October 21, 2021
Sources tell @TonyPauline that it's a situation to watch in the coming weeks.https://t.co/vJpFMDlu9B

Throwback to when Case Keenum and Kevin Stefanski drew this up.

Case Keenum has a career regular season record of 27-35.

While covering Case Keenum this year, I've learned that when he wants to leave the podium, he LEAVES the podium. The last one is just beautiful pic.twitter.com/Q9mJQLjMqM
