The Washington Football Team released their final injury report for today’s game on Thursday and ruled LB Thomas Davis Sr.(knee) OUT. They also listed Kevin Pierre-Louis(ankle), Antonio Gibson(toe), Terry McLaurin(ankle), and Alex Smith(calf) as questionable.
The big story of this game will obviously be Alex Smith being inactive. He was able to return last week to lead the team to a division championship with a win over the Eagles. His calf reportedly "locked up on him" during that game, and he has been working to get healthy all week. His functionality wasn't where he, or the team, needed it to be so he will sit out his first playoff game with Washington, and first since breaking his leg seasons ago.
That puts the big prime time spotlight on Taylor Heinicke who is making his 2nd career start in the NFL tonight. He replaced Dwayne Haskins Jr. Two weeks ago in the 4th quarter, and led the team on a touchdown drive. He will be backed up by undrafted free agent Steven Montez in his first game as the #2 QB.
