The beauty of the NFL is that even when your team isn’t playing, there are very few times of the year that there isn’t something worth talking about. Despite making a playoff run, after falling in the SUPER Wild Card round, the Washington Football Team finds themselves in one of those times where there’s simply just not that much going on. Sure, there are front-office machinations and the far too early pre-draft talk, but after a long and stressful season, albeit one that was successful by nearly any objective measure, the bevy of activity has winnowed down to just a handful of topics, with one that is particularly notable: the Quarterback Question.

Unless you’re new ‘round these parts (in which case, welcome!) you know that for the fans of WFT, and the folks here at Hogs Haven, all eyes are on what’s “next” for Washington at QB. While Alex Smith still has time left on his contract, Kyle Allen is a coach-darling backup, and Taylor Heinicke made a name for himself with a playoff performance in a losing effort, the consensus is that the next signal-caller in DC is not currently on the roster.

On this edition of the Cult Of Colt, Gumbi and I get in on the conversation, discuss what we expect to see in Ron Rivera’s first offseason with the club, and weigh out the options of who is next in line.

We would be remiss if we didn’t at least address the possibility of Deshaun Watson coming to Washington (which seemed like slightly more of a real possibility at the time we recorded this than it is now) whether we wanted to see him in burgundy and gold based on what we think the team would have to give up to go get him.

A programming note: it’s the offseason so we’re excited to get to know you a little bit more and to allow you to get to know us. Pardon any pre-intro silliness, and we ask that let us know what you’re looking for out of an off-season WFT podcast in the comments below and on social media.
