Former Washington Redskins’ cornerback Martin Mayhew will be returning to the organization, but this time it will be at the executive level. Mayhew was reportedly one of the top two candidates to join Washington’s revamped front office, and that will happen according to Ian Rapoport. Mayhew began his front office career in the NFL with the Detroit Lions in 2001 as their Senior Director of Football Administration. He became their GM in 2008 and held the job until 2015. He joined the New York Giants after being fired by Detroit. In 2017, he joined San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch’s front office as a Senior Personnel Executive, and was promoted to Vice President of Player Personnel in 2019.
#49ers VP of Player Personnel Martin Mayhew is headed to the Washington Football Team as a high-ranking executive with a title to be determined, source said. He’ll work with coach Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney as WFT restructures its organization.

The Washington Football Team will reportedly be hiring former Carolina Panthers GM Marty Hurney to hold the same position here. Hurney hired Head Coach Ron Rivera in 2011, and worked with him again when he was rehired in 2017.
