Despite a loss, Taylor Heinicke has breathed new life into Washington and their fans.
On this episode of Rile’d Up. Tiffany and Allana are joined by award-winning broadcaster, Kelsey Nicole Nelson. Nelson is a host of several shows on the Washington Football Team’s team series, Unfiltered. She’s a DMV native and graduate of both the University of Maryland College Park, and Georgetown University.
Nelson shared her experiences covering the players throughout the season and how much support they’ve given Taylor Heinicke. Whether Heinicke continues to head the helm in Washington or not, Chase Young, Washington fans, and Ron Rivera were elated with his play in their playoff matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Washington has officially been given the number 19 pick in the 2021 draft. Nelson sees the team going after a wide receiver to help compliment Terry McLaurin and make the team appealing to free-agent quarterbacks if Heinicke does not remain the number one guy. Although this team made it to the playoffs there are some gaps on the offensive line, at the running back position, and in the secondary that will need to also be filled during the offseason.
Nelson has covered a plethora of sports teams in the DMV area and spoke to the infectious nature of DC and all that this great area has to offer. Washington has so many intricacies and cultural beacons that have yet to truly be revealed to the world. Nelson believes that more teams need to tap into advertising more of the great things the DMV has to offer.
