Scott Turner is heading into his first Week 1 game as an offensive coordinator, and he sounds like he’s ready for the challenge. He’s excited for the new offense in Washington, and he says the players are too. Turner wants to do anything to keep defenses off balance, and they’re prepared for multiple scenarios when they face the Eagles on Sunday.
The Washington Football Team kept 4 running backs when they trimmed the roster down to 53 players on Saturday. Turner says they all present different skills to every situation. Peyton Barber had a great camp, and has a big role in this offense. J.D. McKissic earned his chance to be a starter. Bryce Love has been improving as he works back from his ACL injury almost two years ago. Releasing Adrian Peterson was difficult, but the development of the young RBs was a big part of it.

Running backs:
There are four talented RBs on Washington's offense, and Turner doesn't believe there are any drawbacks to that. He said each player can present different skills to every situation, but he also added that each RB shared similar abilities.

Scott Turner said that Peyton Barber did an outstanding job in training camp and he has a big role in this offense. Turner said J.D. McKissic earned the right to be a starter. Still said don't read too much into the depth chart, to be clear.

Adrian Peterson:
Scott Turner says he has a ton a respect for Adrian Peterson. They spent three years together in Minnesota and Turner says he's a first-ballot HOFer. The development of the young RBs was a big part of that. Turner and Peterson did talk through everything after the news came out.

Bryce Love:

Logan Thomas:
Turner said Logan Thomas is a physical player when it comes to run blocking. There are certain aspects of the tight end position he is still learning about, but Turner thinks he has done a good job of improving his familiarity with the position.

No preseason:
Turner said the coaches threw a lot of information at players to see how they would react. With no preseason games, he said they tried to put the offense into situations that were as close as possible to what they'll see on game day.

Alex Smith:
Scott Turner said that he doesn't believe Alex Smith thinks about his leg injury at all anymore. That was a major change for Smith.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) September 9, 2020
Scott Turner said that the strength and being able to push off the leg was one of the biggest jump. Regaining his confidence that he could play and not thinking about the injury were the most noticeable changes in the last week.
