Health, plus he’s an unrestricted free agent after the season. So nothing to gain by keeping him around just because.

Del Rio says the defense does not need to do extra; every player needs to do their job.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) September 3, 2020
Del Rio lays out simple objectives: do not let the offense score and get the ball back for the offense.
Defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio said fans should be excited about the defense getting to perform beyond their potential. “The guys are going to know what to do, go there fast and tackle well.”
— Logan Campbell (@loganncampbelll) September 3, 2020
Unfortunately, Del Rio did not elaborate. He does not want to provide a scouting report for Washington's opponents. We'll all find out Sept. 13. https://t.co/LSZv9S2T1n

Training Camp Press Conference - Head Coach Ron Rivera https://t.co/NWVdoB0fKD
— Washington Football Team (@WashingtonNFL) September 3, 2020
Head Coach Ron Rivera said this has been one of the toughest years when it comes to making the 53-man roster. No preseason games have made it harder for young guys to prove themselves. Rivera and Kyle Smith have been talking all week but said “the sole responsibility lies on me.”

In the ESPN piece, former WFT cheerleader Tiffany Scourby says, in response to Snyder saying he's going to change the culture: "I don't buy it. He's incapable of it. As long as he's part of the organization, as long as he's leading it, nothing's going to change."
— Jake Russell (@_JakeRussell) September 3, 2020
The one new detail (new to me at least) was former WFT intern Alicia Klein describing a player following her to her car after repeatedly telling him she didn't want to go out with him. https://t.co/kSJctqyI1q

Ron Rivera says Washington is going to keep a good amount of offensive linemen, and not just on regular roster but on the practice squad too. To me that sounds like at least 9 OL on the 53
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) September 3, 2020
For the roster builders out there: Rivera said, because of "safety sake" you need a lot of OL. He typically kept 10 in Caro (h/t @PCinOz). Note: Was told the other day didn't expect Charles to go on IR so that means might want to keep 10 since he hasn't practiced in a while. ♂️
— John Keim (@john_keim) September 3, 2020
Rivera said after games sometimes he'd hear from analytic guys that he made the right call on a play that failed, based on the numbers. He'd say, "Did I really? we lost. What if we had kicked that field goal? Sometimes 3 is better than none." He'll listen, but not ruled by #s
— John Keim (@john_keim) September 3, 2020
This was Rivera’s full quote(s) on analytics. He does look at them; has people here who are in charge of it. Doesn’t just go with #s. pic.twitter.com/r0Z0wdWIo5

— Rick Snider (@Snide_Remarks) September 3, 2020
Also, when asked about Alex Smith being on 53-man roster, Rivera said: “He’s done some really good things, but there are still some things we have to sit down and talk about as an org. ... I would never rule it out b/c of who Alex is as a man and as a competitor.” #Huddle&Flow

The NFL finalized its policy on the use of artificial crowd noise in stadiums during games and sent it to teams today. The curated audio of crowd noise is to be played at 70 decibels and the crowd noise and any music can be played at a maximum of 75 decibels.
— MarkMaske (@MarkMaske) September 4, 2020
The curated audio of crowd noise to be used in stadiums during games this season was created by NFL Films. The league told teams the artificial crowd noise must be used in stadiums without fans. It also will be played in stadiums with fans, subject to reevaluation by the league.
— MarkMaske (@MarkMaske) September 4, 2020
The NFL told teams it will monitor their use of artificial crowd noise during games to ensure compliance with the guidelines. The league will take decibel readings during games. A team must submit its video board feed and stadium PA to the league the Wednesday after a home game.
— MarkMaske (@MarkMaske) September 4, 2020
The NFL also told teams that in addition to the in-stadium artificial crowd noise, there will be separate crowd-noise audio that will be incorporated into TV broadcasts that will be "dynamic and reactive to game situations" but not heard in the stadium.
— MarkMaske (@MarkMaske) September 4, 2020
Tonight would’ve been the last night of preseason football. No games has definitely changed the course for many young players. For those guys who get released in next couple days, keep the faith and continue to grind. Attack when your shot comes.
