Washington Football Team Vs. Browns Film - Tyler’s Takes

NFL: Washington Football Team at Cleveland Browns Scott Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

Guys and gals - first, sorry for getting this out late this week. We had some stuff going on. That being said, at least it’s out.

In what you all know was a rough, sloppy, turnover-filled game, the Redskins loss to the Browns showed us all what we thought we already knew - that we are NOT a good football team; nor are the Eagles who we beat week one.

No one should be surprised by the record, and I think we can probably all agree that things are going to get a bit worse before they get better.

Below are some cut-ups of the game and some comments about the plays that are highlighted.

Dwayne Haskins Jr. - This was an abysmal game for the second year quarterback who now has 10 games started on his professional resume. Like I have said before, we need to see progression from the start of the season to the end of it from him, and Sunday’s game was a large step backwards.

Some of his misses were simply high-schoolish, but when he sets his feet, has a clean pocket and trusts those around him, he shows promise.

The bad:

The good:

Morgan Moses - Moses has been a pleasant surprise this season. He came into camp healthy and down about 20 pounds - and it shows in his play. He’s also taken on a Trent Williams’ like demeanor.

In the clip below, you see Moses keep two defenders at bay!

Geron Christian Sr. - Christian has certainly taken his lumps early this season, and just when you think he’s showing signs of improvement, he goes and lays a complete egg.

Wes Schweitzer - Schweitzer has stepped in for the injured Brandon Scherff, and aside from a few communication issues, has done a pretty decent job.

Wes Martin - I understand our offensive line has not been very good this year, but Wes Martin continues to really struggle. At this point, he’s just not getting it, and I have my doubts he ever will.

Terry McLaurin - It’s very easy to see that we have a special talent in Terry McLaurin. Below you see the phantom offensive pass interference call against F1.

For what it’s worth, this, in my opinion, was a HUGE turning point in the game.

Antonio Gandy-Golden - AGG is just a rookie, and he’s very raw, but you see glimpses in his game...and then you see the rawness.

Logan Thomas - Count me as one who has not at all been impressed with Logan Thomas...

Tim Settle - The big fella is quietly having himself a nice start to the season. As unfortunate as Matt Ioannidis’ injury is, it should give Settle more chances to shine.

Montez Sweat - When rookie Chase Young left the game with a groin injury, all eyes were on Montez Sweat - and the second year EDGE did not disappoint!

Troy Apke - Apke’s season keeps getting worse. One week it’s blown coverage, the next it’s poor recognition and angles...but it’s ALWAYS tackling!

Landon Collins - Collins has had an up and down start to the season - but whatever this was, it was NOT good!
