The Washington Football Team had four players in for workouts on Saturday and has signed two of them to their practice squad. DT Devaroe Lawrence and DB Manny Patterson are the latest additions who will try to earn a spot on the main roster. Washington had one opening when they signed DE Nate Orchard after placing Matt Ioannidis on injured reserve. The opened up the other spot by releasing veteran kicker Brett Maher.

Devaroe Lawrence was an undrafted free agent from Auburn who was signed by the New Orleans Saints in 2017. He tore his ACL his rookie year, and was trade to the Cleveland Browns the following year. Washington obviously signed him to get tips on how to intercept a Lamar Jackson pass.

Washington also protected two practice squad players from being poached this week. Joshua Garnett was elevated to the main roster, and was active vs the Cleveland Browns. He played 1 snap on offense, and 3 on special teams. TE Temarrick Hemingway was with the Panthers last season, and somehow ended up on the protected list.
