Washington Injury Update: Brandon Scherff expected to miss 3-5 weeks with sprained MCL

NFL: Washington Football Team at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Football Team got some “positive” news today according to Head Coach Ron Rivera. He was asked about RG Brandon Scherff’s knee injury at his presser today, and he said he was going to miss a few weeks. Ian Rapoport is reporting that Scherff suffered a sprained MCL yesterday when an Arizona Cardinals defender rolled up on his right leg. This injury fits Rivera’s loose timeline of a couple of weeks. This will likely land Brandon Scherff on the NFL’s new “short-term” injured reserve that requires players to miss at last 3 weeks.

Wes Schweitzer was brought in to play right guard after Scherff’s injury and he will likely continue to play there unless the coaching staff makes more changes this week. Washington also reportedly worked out OL Jeremy Vujnovich who they had signed, and released, during the offseason. This is a good sign that they are planning to put Scherff on the shelf for a month+ and sign someone they are familiar with.
