The Washington Football Team came into today’s game as 7 point underdogs, and ended up losing by 15 on the road. They were simply dominated for the majority of the game, and it was bad for all three phases of the game. Lack of offense, turnovers on offense and special teams, and Kyler Murray sealed their fate today. Washington goes into next week’s away game against the Cleveland Browns with a 1-1 record. They have a lot to work on in practice this week, and will need to look at a few spots on the team that are not playing good enough to compete.
1st Quarter
Kyler Murray 4 yard TD to DeAndre Hopkins (7-0)
Clear breakdown in coverage as Hopkins runs wide open in the end zone for an easy TD. Looks like Moreau was expecting help from Landon Collins inside, who appeared to realise his mistake too late. pic.twitter.com/623yFANckg

I guess 41 froze Landon Collins (26)? Left Hopkins completely uncovered. Via Next Gen Stats. pic.twitter.com/ZzIMSMHSCz

Washington offense stalls
Haskins ran into a sack at the start of that drive, but had he managed to find some space, he would have had Terry McLaurin open down the field. pic.twitter.com/P1UdQZCKM7

Nice run from Antonio Gibson here. Amazing juke to avoid the unblocked defender in the hole, then showed off his power to pick up a nice gain. pic.twitter.com/e8dsQyNyhI

Landon Collins makes up for the blown coverage earlier with a huge interception of Kyler Murray.

Great field position for #WashingtonFootball pic.twitter.com/7VbYaUgGo3
Landon Collins redeems himself. Sweat does a nice job taking the LT inside for Payne to work to the edge and pressure Murray, prevent him from stepping into the throw. Collins from a deep half look drives down and picks it off pic.twitter.com/jJ7YuByKOc

Cardinals strip-sack Dwayne Haskins Jr.
Dwayne Haskins has the OL collapse around him and the ball is knocked from his hand straight into the arms of the defense.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) September 20, 2020
Unlucky for #WashingtonFootball pic.twitter.com/PoO1sjjByj
Think Brandon Scherff missed his jump set here, outside hand strikes down the middle of the rusher working outside, which is always an issue for offensive lineman. DT knocks the ball out of Haskins' hand. pic.twitter.com/NvYtrdegdE

Jon Bostic sacks Kyler Murray
Just like week one, Jon Bostic brings pressure up the middle and gets home for the sack!#WashingtonFootball brings elite pressure in 2020. pic.twitter.com/NwIrkOeq9w

Steven Sims Jr. fumbles the punt
Steven Sims had some struggles on punt returns last week too, and this week they continue;
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) September 20, 2020
Sims fumbles the ball trying to fight for extra yards through heavy traffic.

Kyler Murray runs it in for the TD (14-0)
Nice run by Kyler Murray, he's fun to watch from a neutral point of view. Suspect FS Troy Apke won't enjoy watching this one back as he let Murray cut back inside of him... pic.twitter.com/NN4bBuzwKu
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 20, 2020
2nd Quarter
Troy Apke gets burned deep
Tough to tell what the coverage was from this angle, but FS Troy Apke is flat-footed, perhaps reading the crosser from the other side, as Isabella runs by him. pic.twitter.com/H1hxdwCugq
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 20, 2020
Washington’s offense stalls
Start off the drive with a PA pass, Roullier gets beat by a swim move across his face. Scherff tries to bail him out, but can't stop. Haskins looked panicked seeing pressure, not a good sign. pic.twitter.com/sQnMgTsBBN
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 20, 2020
Terry McLaurin is still very good at football
Scott Turner switches to quick game stuff that got Haskins comfortable last week. This would be called "X Hole Spacing" in a west coast scheme. Hits McLaurin, who turns it into a big gain. pic.twitter.com/kDzQZjghpI
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 20, 2020
Then run another quick game concept with McLaurin catching a slant for 9 yards. pic.twitter.com/3K8BFJU7p2
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 20, 2020
That’s not a 1st down
Inman runs a shallow cross on a mesh concept too short of the 1st down marker. Would like to see him gain that extra bit of depth. pic.twitter.com/xEVaWHD4xL
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 20, 2020
Dwayne Haskins is not Kyler Murray
This is a worrying sack for Haskins. Doesn't like his read to his left and starts worrying about the pressure, so scrambles left when he didn't need to take off running. He's not the off-script scrambling type of QB, taking off running isn't his game. pic.twitter.com/SzI19ZN6OF
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 20, 2020
Daron Payne is still very good at football
Nice rep by Daron Payne working against the RG here. Feels him setting aggressively, so works inside and swipes the inside hand away to skip by him. pic.twitter.com/gAlWbxe7v7
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 20, 2020
Brandon Scherff gets injured
Scherff injury - right leg got rolled up on. Does not look good. pic.twitter.com/4GGpZkdc6X

Washington starts another drive, down 20-0
Can see Haskins fighting with himself here. Began to take off running as he felt pressure arriving rather than progress to his next read. But then managed to spot a receiver over the middle and hit him, even with a bad base pic.twitter.com/U0ogTOrMfE
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 20, 2020
Dwayne Haskins and Logan Thomas are not on the same page today
Very nearly a 3rd down conversion. Just inches away from being a nice throw from Haskins and a nice catch by Thomas. pic.twitter.com/jtrOvXdXsL

Halftime
Ron Rivera doesn’t get an IV at halftime
Rivera told the broadcast his team was shooting itself in the foot. https://t.co/6yD8N8gBG0
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) September 20, 2020
Fox broadcast reports that Ron Rivera did not get an IV at halftime as he did last week. He was on the field before the second half kick. Last week, he missed the first two plays of second half while getting his IV.

3rd Quarter
Kevin Pierre-Louis came to play
Excellent job by Kevin Pierre-Louis working around the traffic to make the tackle in the flat and get Washington off the field on 3rd and short. pic.twitter.com/5D8XWw4Do1
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 20, 2020
Dwayne Haskins continues to get pressured
Haskins has come out of the half more composed in the pocket. This is what he needs to do more of. RG Wes Schweitzer allows the DT to stunt inside of him easily for quick pressure up the middle. Haskins calmly slides in the pocket and finds a target, but hit as he throws. pic.twitter.com/nSwnsCeKYB
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 20, 2020
Next play, better composure again from Haskins. Helps he had time to reach the top of his drop and even step up. pic.twitter.com/tdrC58OEWX

Arizona goes for it on 4th and 1 from their own 27
This is one hell of a call by the Cardinals on 4th and 1 inside their own 30. Probably speaks to how they feel about Washington's offense... pic.twitter.com/oaw33AAlni

Haskins and Thomas finally on the same page
Love the design of this TE screen by Scott Turner. Sends the back to the flat to take the attention, sneaks out Thomas on a sift from the other side. pic.twitter.com/HSCz0cpvQz

Kyler Murray runs it in for another TD

First 100-yard receiving game of the season for @WashingtonNFL wide receiver Terry McLaurin. He's got 6 catches for 100 yards.

Nice run by Gibson for the TD. Pull LG Wes Martin to kick out the unblocked edge defender, right side seal off defensive inside. Gibson shows good vision to find the lane and cut back, then strength to work through contact and into the end zone. pic.twitter.com/WX48QEVLtv
