The 2020 season officially kicked off last week and the Washington Football Team was the only NFC East team to get a win. Their win over the Philadelphia Eagles will keep them in 1st place until at least Week 3. Philly hosts the Los Angeles Rams, the New York Giants visit the Chicago Bears, and the Dallas Cowboys host the Atlanta Falcons. These are all 1pm games, and Washington plays the Arizona Cardinals at 4:05pm.
Washington had a huge, come from behind victory last week when they beat the Eagles 27-17. The defense made Carson Wentz's life miserable, sacking him 8 times, picking him off twice, and forcing 2 fumbles(recovering 1). Cardinal's QB Kyler Murray presents a completely different challenge, and Head Coach Ron Rivera has been talking about it all week. If Washington can't pressure and contain Murray he will make it a very long day in the desert for the defense. Arizona has a lot of weapons, and the team will need to play disciplined football to stop their "video game" offense.
Washington's offensive line allowed too much pressure last week, especially from the left side. Dwayne Haskins Jr. had the least time in the pocket of any QB in week one, and will need more protection with Chandler Jones staring him down. Washington is still trying to establish their wide receivers with Terry McLaurin always drawing a lot of attention from defenses. Steven Sims Jr. and Dontrelle Inman will need to make a bigger impact. The running backs are also a young group that will need to show more than flashes to make the offense more consistent.
Washington enters this game as 7 point underdogs, and would love to pull off their second consecutive upset to go to 2-0 for the first time since 2011. The defense will need another strong game, and the offense needs to start fast and stay consistent to outscore Arizona. This will be a big test for Ron Rivera's young team.
