Jack Del Rio talked about coaching his first NFL game since 2017, and getting the win. The defense, like the rest of the team, started off slow. He said there were miscues throughout the defense early, but they continued to fight and finished the way they wanted to finish. They put their stamp on the game in the 2nd half.
Del Rio had heavy praise for 7th round rookie DB Kamren Curl who played the 2nd most rookie snaps behind Chase Young. Curl has been showing up since training camp, and has earned his way onto the field. Del Rio said it doesn’t matter how you get into the NFL, it’s whether you take advantage of your opportunities when you get there.
Cardinals QB Kyler Murray is a super talented player that the defense will have to stop. Arizona’s Air Raid offense wants to run a lot of plays and they have speedy guys running everywhere. Washington’s defense will have to stay fresh to keep up with them.

Slow start:
Jack Del Rio is now addressing the media. He starts off the presser by saying the defense started slow. There were miscues throughout the defense. We weren't on point, he said, but the positive was that they continued to fight, compete and finish the way he wanted to finish.

.@coachdelrio says it was an undisciplined start....Not only coverage but the penalties.

On Kam Curl - He's done it from the start. "A bright spot when guys develop." @WSHFootballSI
Del Rio said seventh-round DB Kamren Curl did a "tremendous job" against the Eagles. He played 22 snaps, the second-most of any rookie behind Chase Young.

Del Rio said Kamren Curl did a "tremendous job" on Sunday. It doesn't matter how players get to the NFL; he cares about whether they take advantage of their opportunities. And so far, Del Rio says Curl has done that.

Kyler Murray:
Del Rio says the defense understands it's going up against a "super talented young man" in Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) September 17, 2020
Cardinals offense:
Keeping players fresh on defense will be a challenge against the Cardinals "Air-Raid" offense. "It looks like they have a joy stick in a video game," Del Rio said. They know this offense will run a lot of plays, and they have to match that.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) September 17, 2020
Jack Del Rio on keeping the DL fresh vs/Cards: “they want to run a lot of plays and eventually either you’re not able to keep up with them and bust or they wear you down and have guys with speed running all over the field. It looks like they have a joystick in a video game”

No fans:
Jack Del Rio says “I missed the fans.” He really missed that emotion on game day and hopes fans are back soon.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) September 17, 2020
.@coachdelrio says "back in the saddle" on coaching first game in several years....
— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) September 17, 2020
Says he really missed the fans..."feeling the emotion of the fans.. I missed it, I really did." @WSHFootballSI
Del Rio missed the fans during his first time on the field since 2017. He likes having that experience and feeling the emotions of the home and away fan bases. He hopes that eventually, fans will be allowed back into the stadium.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) September 17, 2020
Defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio said on Sunday the thing he really missed was the fans. “To all the fans out there.. We share the highs and the lows together.” Del Rio went on to say that he hopes to have fans back soon.

Ryan Kerrigan:

— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) September 17, 2020

— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) September 17, 2020
Very happy with him otherwise.
"He's a super player & we're excited to have him."
Chase Young:
Jack Del Rio said a conversation with Chase Young about keeping his head level is unnecessary. He said the rookie isn't paying attention to the noise and his focus is on the Cardinals.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) September 17, 2020
Del Rio said Chase Young is a player who "has his head on right." He's completely focused on what he's doing on the field and doesn't listen to any of the outside attention, good or bad.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) September 17, 2020
Del Rio said Chase Young is a player that has his head on right. “His focus is where it should be and that’s what I love about him. It’s been that way since day 1.” Went on to say Young isn’t paying any attention to outside noise and is focused on the Cardinals.
