It was reported earlier today that the Washington Football Team is bringing in former Louisiana Tech QB, J’Mar Smith for a work out. Smith was brought in by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent earlier in the year.

Smith will have to get a clean COVID test before working out with the team.
Confirming Washington plans to workout former Louisiana Tech QB J’Mar Smith, per source. Must pass COVID-19 testing before actually working out this week. @DraftDiamonds first on this.

Smith was a 4-year starter at Louisiana Tech and was, at times, a bit of a dual threat QB.
A very solid profile on Smith can be found here, at Pats’ Pulpit.
J’Mar got to Louisiana Tech and quickly took over the starting job: halfway through his redshirt freshman season he earned the gig and never lost it. Smith started 43 games in his college career and helped his team improve its record each year, eventually leading it to a 10-3 record in 2019 and an Independence Bowl victory over Miami.
I can only speculate that the WFT is bringing him in to compete for a spot on the practice squad with Stephen Montez. If true, it’s nice to know that the pro personnel staff are scouring the league for players to improve the bottom of the roster.
