We did it! We made it through the roughest offseason in a long time to get to some actual NFL football tonight. When the COVID-19 pandemic started shutting sports, and the rest of the world, down in March, a lot of people thought the NFL wouldn’t be able to have a season this year. Too many people, too much travel, too many complications. The NFL had the advantage of having the most time to prepare for a season, and also to learn more about preventing infections. We’re not out of the woods yet, and things can obviously change pretty quickly if an outbreak happens, but tonight it’s time to watch some football!
The season kicks off with a rematch of an AFC Divisional Round playoff game last year that saw the Texans blow a 24-0 lead as Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 51-31 blowout win. Those wounds are still fresh in Houston, especially after they watch the Chiefs go on to win their first Super Bowl in franchise history. Mahomes and Texans QB Deshaun Watson both got massive contracts this year, and both of them are looking to take home that Lombardi trophy this year. The Chiefs are heavy home favorites tonight, but this should be a great game to kick off the season.
Chiefs don't have a count yet of how many tickets were sold to this game and how many fans will be in the stands. They said earlier they are operating at about 22 percent capacity, meaning more than 16,000 could be in attendance.— MarkMaske (@MarkMaske) September 10, 2020
