Bold Predictions for The Washington Football Team in 2020 - Offense

NFL: The Washington Football Team-Srimmage Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Dwayne Haskins takes the next step

Most of the NFL talking heads have the Washington Football Team at or near the very bottom in the NFL for 2020, and many of those same talking heads have the them taking a quarterback with a top three pick in 2021.

...NOT SO FAST!

I do not have Washington as a playoff team in 2020, but I do have their new captain taking a massive step forward in his maturation process, and having a nice sophomore campaign - securing his spot as the team’s franchise quarterback moving forward.

2020 Season Prediction:

Dwayne Haskins Jr. - 3840 yards, 62%, 27 TD’s, 8 INT’s

Antonio Gibson becomes Alvin Kamara light

Do not sleep on the rookie Antonio Gibson. With Adrian Peterson gone, and no clear-cut front runner for the lead running back role in Washington, I expect the dynamic running back, with a wide receiver skillset, to take the position and literally RUN with it.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara burst onto the scene as a rookie, after not being heavily used during college, to the tune of 728 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, and 81 receptions for 826 yards and five touchdowns. Now I don’t think Gibson will be quite as productive, but I do think he’ll receive over 150 carries, and catch over 50 passes in Scott Turner’s new offense.

2020 Season Prediction:

Antonio Gibson - 155 carries, 4.8 YPC, 745 yards, 6 TD; 60 receptions, 520 yards, 4 TD

Terry McLaurin breaks 1000 receiving yards

It seems like forever since Washington has had a 1000 yard receiver. Actually, the last time that happened was 2016(Garcon and Jackson). Well, 2020 will be different!

F1 is poised for a monster season with Haskins under center full time this year. His combination of size, speed and route running ability all make for a true number one threat, and Terry lives up to that threat this year by turning in a monster season.

2020 Season Prediction:

Terry McLaurin - 87 receptions, 1265 yards, 9 TD

Marcus Baugh leads the tight end group in yards and touchdowns

The coaching staff has been raving about 6’4” 245 pound former Ohio State product this summer. Although he has had some concentration drops during camp, Baugh posses good size, athleticism and is a solid in-line blocker when asked to do so.

Scott Turner should deploy plenty of two tight end sets, and I expect Baugh to be part of those. With defenses focusing on Terry McLaurin, Steven Sims Jr. and the running backs, Baugh could find himself with plenty of one-on-one matchups against linebackers.

2020 Season Prediction:

Marcus Baugh - 37 receptions, 425 yards, 5 TD

Brandon Scherff makes first team All-Pro

On paper, Washington’s offensive line is shaky at best. What they do have however is a solid interior, led by Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff and center Chase Roullier.

It’s been quite some time since Washington has had a first team All-Pro, but Scherff breaks that ugly streak in 2020, and earns himself a massive contract extension before the start of the 2021 free agent period.
