Washington Football Team starting right tackle Morgan Moses got his turn at the Zoom mic this morning. He has slimmed down from 330-335 to around 317 as he comes into this year’s modified version of training camp. Moses wanted to lose the weight for better durability, and not knowing what the offense was going to look like under the new coaching staff. He is entering his 7th year in the NFL, and is working with younger players to help them in the league. He is really working with QB Dwayne Haskins Jr., and has noticed big changes going into his 2nd year, but knows he still has to prove himself.
Moses talked about some of the changes the Washington Football Team has made this season including their new name. He misses training camp in Richmond because his family is there. The transition from Bill Callahan to John Matsko has been seamless, and his new OL coach is keeping a lot of the same training techniques. He also talked about the team finally parting ways with his friend LT Trent Williams, trading him to the San Francisco 49ers during the draft.

So Morgan's in-home gym includes 20 yards of turf and a sauna, steam room, hot tub and cold tub. No wonder @bscherff68 went over there to train. https://t.co/A3s9Rdd1BJ

— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 7, 2020
RT Morgan Moses on the departure of his teammate and friend Trent Williams: “It’s football. You know this job is very difficult. You see people walk out that door every day. ... For him, he’s excited about being with the 49ers and playing football.”
— Sam Fortier (@Sam4TR) August 7, 2020
Morgan Moses said he's happy for his friend and former teammate Trent Williams being able to get back to football now that he's with San Francisco. Said it'll be a reunion when they link up for that game later this year.

Slimming down:
Matsko said the offensive line has been coached well, so he doesn't want them to change too much. That said, Moses has lost weight and done what he could improve upon what he did last year.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 7, 2020
Mentioned this on the podcast recently but Morgan Moses said he’s down to 317. Ended season around 330-335. Usually has reported to camp heavier than he did now.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 7, 2020
Morgan Moses said he dropped weight for durability and not knowing what the offense was going to be. Being older, you have to change some things and be in tip top shape. Watched film of the Panthers and saw they play in shotgun a lot.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 7, 2020
Veteran mentoring young players:
Moses is now the oldest person on the offensive line, and he has made an effort to show is trying to be there for the younger players. He wants to teach them how to work as a professional. It includes studying and working out on your own making extra efforts.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 7, 2020
Being the oldest guy on the line now, Morgan Moses says it's a blessing. It helps that he and Brandon Scherff basically came in together and they can make this line what they want. He values the new role.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 7, 2020
The importance of veterans: Moses said he learned a LOT from Jason Hatcher as a rookie. Didn’t play much but Learned approach he needed to take to last. Trying to pass those lessons along to Haskins as well.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 7, 2020
Proving himself to the new coaches:

Dwayne Haskins Jr.:
"Seeing his development over the year has been one of the most impressive things I've seen." Morgan Moses about how Dwayne Haskins has carried himself this offseason and where he's at.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 7, 2020
Moses thinks Dwayne Haskins has put in the work to be the starting quarterback, but all that is just workouts, he said. Haskins still has a lot to prove, and Moses wants to see what he can do on the field.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 7, 2020
Morgan Moses with great insight on Dwayne Haskins: Seeing his change, knowing that he's going to be the No. 1 QB has probably been the most impressive thing from a rookie guy that some had written off
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 7, 2020
On why he looks lout for Dwayne Haskins as much as he does, Morgan Moses says he knows how hard it can be. He remembers that phase. He didn't play much his rookie year and he had Trent Williams and Jason Hatcher helping him. Moses feels its his responsibility to help.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 7, 2020
Morgan Moses on Haskins: "You talk about a QB, you want him to stand tall ... you want him to feel confident, and you feel that from Dwayne."
— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) August 7, 2020
Moses has really talked up Haskins and spoken glowingly about his physical and mental transformation this offseason.
Morgan Moses says in the huddle there's no mumbling with the playcalls from Haskins. He's speaking with confidence and with no hesitation. It's hard to go into that circle w/ grown men, but Moses told him if he whispers that's not going to do the job. He's taking it by the reins
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 7, 2020
Moses also said a big change in haskins is a subtle one: the way he calls plays in the huddle. Can understand every word. Was not that way last year, certainly not at this point. Calls them now with more confidence
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 7, 2020
Team name change:
RT Morgan Moses grew up in Virginia and came into the NFL w Washington’s last team name. He was asked if it was weird to wear gear with just “Washington.”

— Lake Lewis Jr (@LakeLewis) August 7, 2020
Washington’s new training staff:
Morgan Moses says one of the biggest changes with this new training staff is the fact that they pay attention to details, communicating and being hands on and being honest. He says they're not asking them to push or play through anything.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 7, 2020
Geron Christian Sr:
Morgan Moses says that Geron Christian has practiced with Trent Williams in Houston. Obviously, he played behind him and now it's his time, Moses says.

Morgan Moses said that it's Geron Christian’s time to shine. He mentioned that Christian has put in the work this offseason. He also said that Saahdiq Charles is an athletic specimen. He joked about Charles's huge calf muscles.
— Lake Lewis Jr (@LakeLewis) August 7, 2020

Richmond training camp:
Morgan Moses says he hopes training camp returns to Richmond. It's a part of his offseason ritual. He can go to his mom's to clean his clothes and get a home cooked meal, too.
