Washington Roster Moves: Josh Harvey-Clemons opts out, 4 players cut

Cutting the clutter

NFL: Washington Redskins at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

There was some confusion earlier today when a HogsHaven member(dg28) noticed on the Washington Football Team’s roster that LB Josh Harvey Clemons was on the Reserve/Opt Out list, but no announcement had been made. It was also strange that DE Caleb Brantley who had reportedly opted out wasn’t on the list, and TE Logan Thomas wasn’t listed on the Reserve/COVID-19 even though the team had officially announced the move. I spoke with a member of the WFT web team, and all the changes that we knew about were updated, and JHC was moved back to the active roster.

It looks like someone at Washingtonfootball.com jumped the gun a little when they moved Harvey-Clemons to the Opt-out list because the team officially announced the move, just hours after listing him there. JHC becomes the second WFT player to opt out for the 2020 season. Brantley opted out under the “high risk” designation, but there hasn’t been any indication which opt out applies to Harvery-Clemons.

Update: Harvey-Clemons appears to be using the high risk designation

The team also made the following moves today:

The Washington Football Team waived the following players:

  • DE Cameron Malveaux
  • DB Maurice Smith
  • TE Caleb Wilson

The Washington Football Team released the following players:

  • RB Josh Ferguson

This will bring the roster to 79 players, which leaves the final spot on the new 80-man roster open for WR Dontrelle Inman. The veteran receiver will reportedly be signed by the team after his free agent visit yesterday. This move hasn’t officially been announced but has been reported by several media outlets and is expected to happen soon.
