Haskins begins the first team period with a completion to Logan Thomas for a solid gain. Then comes an AP rush and two carries for Gibson.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 25, 2020
First team:
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Lucas
Sprinkle
Thomas
Baugh
Keith Ismael at LG
Apke
Anderson
Hamilton
Bostic
Pierre-Louis
I look up and see Marcus Baugh with the ball and hitting the meanest spin. Coach Ron Rivera said he was their most athletic tight end. I’m seeing the vision
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
TE coach Pete Hoener offered some tough love/work advice to Marcus Baugh on the sideline after a play he didn't like. "Its either winning football or fucking losing football!"
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) August 25, 2020
Chase Young working in with the second group in first session of 11v11s. Rivera said yesterday they want to gradually bring him back. Seems like this is the next step.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 25, 2020
Chase Young is in for the opening 11-on-11 period. He’s working opposite Kerrigan with the second team. He got three reps. Another step towards No. 99 fully making his way back.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 25, 2020
Hale Hentges getting some time at FB. Bryce Love with the carry, explodes up the middle for a 10+ yard gain. Next rep, he does a nice job picking up the blitz for Kyle Allen.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Haskins only attempted one pass during that first 11v11 drill and it was completed to Logan Thomas. Rivera said the two are starting to build a connection, and so far they seem to be in sync.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 25, 2020
Dwayne Haskins went 3 for 3 in 9v9. Had scores to Dontrelle Inman and Terry McLaurin. Throw to Inman was impressive. Tight window, Shaun Dion Hamilton had good coverage, tackles Inman, who fell backwards into the end zone.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
9v9 drills now. Alex Smith coming in. New wrinkle though - o line is center guard tackle rather than center flanked by two guards. That means this drill will provide edge rush, which Smith hasn’t faced yet
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 25, 2020
Adrian Peterson just made an impressive juke on Kevin Pierre Louis after catching a pass. Impressive that after 14 years, AP still has that quickness.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 25, 2020
Daron Payne is having his way with second team. Basically tossed Wes Martin aside twice to get to Alex Smith for consecutive sacks. Chase Young was also getting time with the 2s during 9v9
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Daron Payne is blowing up these 9v9 drills and there was some awkward contact with Smith’s plant foot. Every reporter on the sideline reacted and I’m guessing the players and coaches did too. Smith seemed fine and did the next rep unscathed.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 25, 2020
Haskins completes all three of his passes during 9-on-9 red zone drills to AP, Inman and McLaurin. He’s completed all four of his passes thus far.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 25, 2020
9-on-9 drills. Alex Smith at QB. The rush is coming up the middle and it's coming. Daron Payne got their twice and I think I speak for all of us watching when I say our hearts skipped a beat. Some light, incidental contact down low.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) August 25, 2020
Daron Payne blew into the backfield in red zone 9-on-9 drills & appeared to make some sort of contact with Alex Smith's leg. Ron Rivera talked to him right after. Smith stayed in. @WSHFootballSI @theMMQB
— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) August 25, 2020
Alex Smith was frustrated during his nine-on-nine snaps today. He took a little too long to get the ball out and he would have taken a sack on the second play, with Daron Payne bumping into him.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 25, 2020
Reuben Foster working the middle with the 3s. Ryan Bee with a good hustle play, continued working to Kyle Allen before eventually reaching the backfield for what would’ve been a sack in a real game.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
After dropping a pass in the end zone yesterday, AGG redeemed himself. Makes a diving catch on a low throw from Smith during the 9-on-9 red zone period.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 25, 2020
Update on Haskins: 7-7. Two completed passes in the end zone to Steven Sims and Logan Thomas. Granted, the Sims throw would have been a sack by Sweat, but Haskins still delivered a good throw. https://t.co/5lnXvpiBuS
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 25, 2020
Stop me if you’ve heard this before - Dwayne Haskins finds Logan Thomas in the end zone for a TD during red zone work. Rivera spoke yesterday about those two building a good rapport. It’s true.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 25, 2020
Logan Thomas making a residence in the back of the end zone. Haskins finds him all alone for the touchdown. Next play, Haskins hits Dontrelle Inman for the touchdown in a tight window.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Not sure if intentional or good plotting from the offense, but KPL said ended up defending Steven Sims in the slot. Slow developing play ended with 15 catching a TD along back of EZ.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) August 25, 2020
Kyle Allen steps in, has to wait awhile and get through his progression before locating Marcus Baugh open just over the goal line for the routine score. Allen finishes 9v9 by hitting Trey Quinn on the move and he sprints in for the touchdown.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
TE Logan Thomas has caught 4 TDs from Haskins the past three days in the red zone. When Washington gets inside the 20, expect Haskins to look his way.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 25, 2020
Chase Young took part in full-team and 9-9 work, taking reps with second unit. Reminder: not in full pads. But increasing his work.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 25, 2020
Mixing and matching. This is my first time seeing him with 1s. He actually just had a good rep against Jon Allen in the second set of 11v11 https://t.co/jRlWWLa3ZF
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Blocking Montez Sweat seems like such a challenge. He almost blew up a run to Antonio Gibson way in the backfield. Gibson just past him, turned up field to find some daylight
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Interesting move on the offensive line. Cornelius Lucas and Keith Ismael were the starting LT, LG. Wes Martin and Geron Christian worked in with the 2s.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 25, 2020
Ryan Anderson with a great job reading a fake. Stays with it and almost makes the play in the backfield with Kyle Allen.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
I believe Peyton Barber is feeling good again. (Forgot to tweet he returned yesterday). He burst up the middle and gets greeted by Deshazor Everett. Barber lowers his shoulder, and reaches the end zone.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Cam Sims just had a hell of a catch in the back of the end zone during 11-on-11. Kyle Allen pass.
— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) August 25, 2020
11s. Great throw from Kyle Allen to a defended Cam Sims in the EZ. Sims sketches for the grabs and keeps the toes in. Generated some oooohs from others.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) August 25, 2020
Cam Sims just had to absolutely climb the ladder in the back of the end zone. Kyle Allen threw it high over Kamren Curl and he tapped his second toe for the touchdown. Offense got real hype after that.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Some leaping catches by Dontrelle Inman & Cam Sims in the back part of end zone. One from Allen & one from Dwayne.
— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) August 25, 2020
Steven Sims attracts so much attention presnap. Looks like it might go his way or to Adrian Peterson on the run, but ultimately, all of that movement frees up Marcus Baugh who brings in Dwayne Haskins pass for the score.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
His 13th completion came from Inman in double coverage. Haskins gave Inman a chance to make a play, and Inman delivered with an acrobatic grab. https://t.co/Wze6RKAj0X
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 25, 2020
Jonathan Allen with a great move coming around on a twist. Montez Sweat garnered so much focus going in that Allen was able to wrap around and have a clean look at Haskins. QB got out of it, but Allen was closing in.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Keith Ismael did a good job sealing his man off and giving Adrian Peterson a clean lane to run through. He went through the line untouched. Had to dance a bit, but eventually found his space and accelerated through.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Ryan Anderson got in Kyle Allen’s face so fast I didn’t even see who he beat to get there. It was a matter of seconds and Aaron Colvin joined the party on a blitz, too.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Ryan Bee having a good showing today. Pushed David Steinmetz back and then was able to separate and reach the QB for the sack.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Play over incomplete pass. Ball boy goes to get it as it’s on the sideline. Reuben Foster comes running over says, “I got it, I got it.” All about principle for him. Ball was literally within reach of the ball boy. Play later, gets up for a big deflection.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Reuben Foster, still running with the 3's, almost had an interception off Steven Montez but at least knocked it up and then down.
— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) August 25, 2020
J.D. McKissic garners a few “whews” as he puts on the Jets once he reached the right side of the line. Had a nice long gain up the sideline.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Nice screen just a moment ago to the far side...couldn't see the RB who caught it (think it was McKissic but not 100% sure)...Brandon Scherff was finishing his screen block about 25 yards down field.
— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) August 25, 2020
That's the best part of his game IMO. @WSHFootballSI
Dwayne Haskins has had some nice touch on his balls today. Had Logan Thomas open for a first down if he could get it over Jon Bostic. Was able to float it right over his outstretched arm for the big play.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
It wasn't as deep, but Washington had a play like this today. Bounced off a few defenders' hands and Jester Weah hauled it back in and took off. I knew it reminded me of something. https://t.co/U7eQPUjrmT
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 25, 2020
Kyle Allen goes deep and gets picked off by Kamren Curl. The 7th rookie has put together a few good practice days.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 25, 2020
Kamren Curl with a pick of Kyle Allen, throwing down the field. Curl a good read from the middle of the field... Returns the ball. Chris Harris FIRED UP. Runs over to him. And of course shouts: "You like nice things huh?!"
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 25, 2020
Chris Harris is just flat out entertaining. Kamren Curl just intercepted a pass, and Harris was running with Curl step for step cheering him on. His excitement is infectious.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 25, 2020
Old self? No, he’s not there yet, but he’s working back to it. https://t.co/lk7EnYZP3A
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
LB Reuben Foster also had a pass deflection with the 3s https://t.co/ydWKfPNVh4
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 25, 2020
Major collision as Troy Apke goes high on Terry McLaurin. Was a football play but would have been flagged. Helmet to helmet. Apke was playing the ball though. Everybody jumped up and seemed fine
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 25, 2020
And Troy Apke nearly decapitated Terry McLaurin on a slant type route. McLaurin didn't appear to be thrilled.
— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) August 25, 2020
Apke has been taking out the lumber this week.
Throw high/outstretched. Almost surely a flag. @WSHFootballSI @theMMQB
Physicality inside is part of McLaurin’s challenge to become a No. 1 this season. WRs coach Jim Hostler said McLaurin must go inside/over the middle, and he’s been learning like this throughout camp. https://t.co/MdpVLf5Uyh
— Sam Fortier (@Sam4TR) August 25, 2020
Not Haskins' best sequence there. A high throw led to that Apke-McLaurin tangle (Apke was playing the ball) and then Landon Collins just picked him off and took it the other way.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 25, 2020
On the fourth play, Dwayne Haskins tried floating it out to J.D. McKissic in the flat. Landon Collins has a big beat on it, and took it back to the house. 2s up now.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Landon Collins just picked off Haskins on a pass to McKissic. Collins and jumped the route at the right time. Just a veteran move by the three-time Pro Bowl safety.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 25, 2020
I'll say this about young WFT defensive players trying to claim starting jobs - theyre playing to the ball and collisions are happening. Doesnt seem like the coaches mind either. Apke and Hamilton particularly.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 25, 2020
Can Sims is having a day. Kyle Allen floats the ball over the defender and right into Sims, who turns up field for the big gain.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Ryan Anderson gets to Kyle Allen on consecutive plays. Blows by his lineman for a sack on the first play, then no OL picks him up the second play. RB was there, but of little resistance.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
James Smith-Williams easily beats David Steinmetz on the right to get right into Kyle Allen’s face. Allen unloads the pass to Antonio Gibson. In a real game, more than likely a sack there.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Peyton Barber with another touchdown. He runs behind Wes Martin and goes unscathed as he runs into the end zone. Kyle Allen finishes the 2s reps with a TD throw to Trey Quinn working over the left goal line.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Logan Thomas typically has his way running the seam. Usually he’s free and it’s just a matter of the QB getting it to him. Shaun Dion Hamilton was able to do a good job staying on his hip and make Dwayne Haskins throw a tough pass that went incomplete.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
McKissic and Haskins getting in some extra work. Focus on what McKissic needs to do on the route. Had been a pick six by Collins on similar route with McKissic earlier in practice. pic.twitter.com/0p8ScjGdeo
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 25, 2020
Dwayne Haskins, J.D. McKissic and Dontrelle Inman staying behind after practice. Coach Ron Rivera came over to talk with Haskins. Working through what happened on the pick 6 pic.twitter.com/RS6tfPtjUk
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 25, 2020
Ron Rivera just stayed late at practice and worked with Dwayne Haskins on the play that resulted in a pick 6 to Landon Collins. Rivera told Haskins where the ball needs to be and told JD McKissic where the route needs to be. Teaching moment.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 25, 2020
Haskins caps practice with a short TD to Steven Sims Jr. Positive finish to another solid session overall. The last team period was really the only time Haskins struggled.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 25, 2020
