If curious about such things, the first player out in the field area today was DL Ryan Bee. LB Kevin Pierre-Louis now on the exercise bike, OT David Steinmetz stretching. Cole Holcomb, Jon Allen among others filtering in 15-20 minutes before practice.

Seems like almost every individual rep for Terry McLaurin is with Dwayne Haskins at QB. Continuing to build that chemistry that will be crucial in 2020. pic.twitter.com/vrMrS0pZgV
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 23, 2020
He had a rep against Cam Sims, where Sims beat him on a go route. Pulled up and was talking to a member of the staff. He’s walked off the field now away from the 1 on 1 drills https://t.co/fQR2h9Pidk

Happy Sunday y’all! A beautiful morning for some football! pic.twitter.com/D17H9MKHDo
— Logan Campbell (@loganncampbelll) August 23, 2020
Man, Jester Weah has a really nice catch and concentration on a comeback route. Deshazor Everett was in great position to make a play. Just a really good job on Weah sticking with it when it got by Everett
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
A few WRs that looked good during 1v1s: Jester Weah, Jordan Veasy and Johnathon Johnson. A few of the players outside of the starters are making some plays.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
DB/WR drill takeaways:
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 23, 2020
- Darby breaks up a pass against McLaurin on a post
- Cam Sims bears Moreau on a fade
- Stroman grabs another INT
- AGG makes the grab on a deep ball.

11v11 drills now. Serious contact. Haskins made a nice downfield throw to Cam Sims after evading pressure in the pocket and moving to his left
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 23, 2020
First team:
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
Geron Christian
Wes Martin
Logan Thomas
Troy Apke
Ronald Darby
Ryan Anderson
Jon Bostic
Shaun Dion Hamilton
Shaun Dion Hamilton just laid out JD McKissic. Rivera quickly told Hamilton that was too much - “we can’t do that. We can’t have that out here.”
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 23, 2020
Shaun Dion Hamilton took J.D. McKissic to the ground with a big tackle, got him around the neck. Coach Ron Rivera made the point, “We can’t do that, we cannot do that.”
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
The day after Rivera scolded the team for a limp finish to practice, these guys are hitting today. Hamilton went too aggressive on one hit. Rivera: "We cannot do that. I know it's your bad. We cannot do that."
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) August 23, 2020
Haskins starts his 11v11 off strong with an open strike to Inman. Looked good in the pocket with solid protection.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
In the first team portion, Haskins gets five reps (three runs and two passes). Had a completion to Inman for a nice gain and a quick pass that hit off Marcus Baugh’s hands.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 23, 2020
Chase Young in pads again. Not taking part in 11-11 work.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 23, 2020
Fabian Moreau is back on the field with a wrap in his left thigh. Also kinda interesting they have Ryan Anderson out there as LB in 7v7
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 23, 2020
Now Ryan Kerrigan is out here too for this. Maybe they’re just practicing have some of their defensive ends drop back in coverage
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 23, 2020
Field split between 7 on drills and line h2h. While Montez Sweat is with the line action, Ryan Kernigan is with the LBs in the 7s.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) August 23, 2020
QBs at work ...
— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) August 23, 2020
This is the second of three consecutive padded practices for Washington. Ron Rivera said players have to develop a “callousness” for the game. pic.twitter.com/2vGqEjTbeG
Some observations from 1v1 pass rush drills:
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
- Starting O-Line looked much better. Won at least four of their five reps (Wes Martin vs. Jon Allen a tossup)
- Jon Allen has an insane bull rush
- Jordan Brailford has some nice quickness on the edge
Haskins goes 4-for-6 during 7-on-7 drills with a slant to McLaurin, a deeper pass to McLaurin, an outlet pass to Thomas and a completion to McKissic. One of his incompletions came on 3rd-and-11. Threw it a little high for Steve Sims, but he should have caught it. Heard footsteps.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 23, 2020
AGG! pic.twitter.com/G8w2jw8auF
— Emmanuel Chokuba (@MannyChokuba) August 23, 2020
Also Jeremy Sprinkle impressed me during pass pro going against Sweat and James Smith-Williams. You could argue he lost his matchup against Sweat, but he locked down JSW.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
On a 3&7 in 7-7 work, Haskins had a deep crosser to S. Sims that was slightly high but catchable. Off tips. Not a bad throw downfield to the 5-10 Sims
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 23, 2020
Chase Young doing some work on the side field with trainers. Hasn’t seen much work since the hip flexor flared up on Wednesday
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 23, 2020
Chase Young is on the other field with trainers and appears to be testing his hip to see how he gets off the line and cuts. He’s been at practice every day, but this is fourth one he hasn’t participated in because of a hip flexor.
— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) August 23, 2020
Chase Young on the sideline again today. Ryan Anderson getting work with the 1s.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
Young was working off to the side with the S&C coach. Testing his hip by focusing on his get-off, taking a step back and forth and then some short bursts.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 23, 2020
Young and The Restless:

Chase Young wasn't allowed in the 11-on-11 drills at #WFT camp today, but here's a look at the work he did get in.@nbcwashington @youngchase907 @OhioStateFB pic.twitter.com/Zc81BEtP7d
Wow. Dwayne Haskins flared out wide, Logan Thomas stepped in as QB, with a handoff out of shotgun to AP for big gain on the right side.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
We have a wildcat alert. Logan Thomas lines up QB and handed off the ball to AP. Some training camp trickery!
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
Montez Sweat just beat Logan Thomas on the outside, came back in to wrap up Adrian Peterson on the run. Nice effort to shed the block and get in a position to make the play
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
Logan Thomas back in the shotgun again with the option. Haskins split wide right. Snap high, Thomas corrals it, runs and gets hit by Shaun Dion Hamilton first then popped by Ryan Anderson. Ball came out
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
Scott Turner getting creative during the latest team session. On two of Haskins’ plays, Logan Thomas lined up at QB with AP next to him and Haskins lined up wide. First play worked perfectly as Thomas handed off to AP. Bad snap on the second play.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 23, 2020
Y’all. J.D. McKissic if he gets the ball in his hands with any sliver of space and opportunity is a baaaaad man. He takes the catch over the middle from Haskins, turns up field, has a few blocks and he gone.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
McKissic just got open on a screen and sprinted down the sideline. There was a notiable jump in excitement from the offense after that play. The group followed that up with two positive plays from Logan Thomas and Bryce Love.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
Been knocking the O-line plenty so here’s some praise - Bryce Love just had a giant hole to cut back and get a big gain in 11v11
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 23, 2020
Other 11-on-11 notes:
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 23, 2020
- Sweat blew up Logan Thomas for a tackle for loss
- Very well-executed screen to Mckissic (great block from Scherff on Allen)
- Fuller pass breakup vs. McLaurin.
- Kerrigan makes play on outside run
- Nice run by Bryce Love up the middle against the 3s.
I’ve noticed the offense has looked a little crisper in terms of play execution. Receivers were winning matchups in 1v1s. O-Line looks better than yesterday. And the McKissic screen seemed to build momentum during 11v11s.

An all-around stellar camp for Terry McLaurin. Dude is ready for Year 2.
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) August 23, 2020
Fuller just recovered a stripped fumbled, and DBs coach Chris Harris comes sprinting in screaming “we got another one!”
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
Logan Thomas has been playing well today. Just caught a wide open pass in the middle from Haskins.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
Shaun Dion Hamilton has had a really nice day. His hit on Steven Sims just now forced an incompletion (though pass may have been a little low). Hamilton has been working with the 1s throughout the day.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 23, 2020
We have a new group of linebackers with the 1s: Jon Bostic and Shaun Dion Hamilton. Dion Hamilton ended the starting 11v 11 reps with a PBU on Steven Sims.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
Ryan Kerrigan hasn’t done team work today at all. With Chase Young still our, it’s been a good chance for the coaching staff to evaluate Ryan Anderson.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 23, 2020
O-Line is doing some good things today. Christian and Baugh worked well together against Sweat. Two plays later, Christian, Martin and Roullier beautifully handled a DL stunt. All three looked in sync and kept the pocket clean for Haskins.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
This offense is highly pedestrian in terms of top-end talent as we all know. It's going to take a lot of smoke & mirrors to manufacture consistent offense & points. Have seen plenty of evidence that coaches realize this too. @WashingtonNFL @WSHFootballSI
— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) August 23, 2020
Kyle Allen sure likes to take off and scramble, man.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 23, 2020
A few consolidated notes:
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
— Kamren Curl with an interception that went right to him.
— Landon Collins with a fumble recovery on a poor snap.
— Kendall Fuller with a fumble recovery after Steven Sims was stripped.
— Marcus Baugh with a nice block on a Terry McLaurin reverse.
Two things this offense does well: outside run plays (stretches, pitches, jet sweeps) and passes in between the hashes. McLaurin had a nice run on a jet sweep, and Haskins found Baugh on a 15-yard pass down the middle.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
11v11 and Haskins just fired a laser to Marcus Baugh. The big tight end didn’t even seem to see it and one coach shouted “gotta catch it”
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 23, 2020
Adrian Peterson got tackled and went down awkwardly. He hopped on the sideline but no trainers have come over.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
Short-yardage takeaways:
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 23, 2020
- Montez Sweat with another tackle for loss
- Jet sweep to McLaurin (first time we’ve seen that). Got around Ryan Anderson
- Baugh with a catch over the middle. Nice gain.
Ryan Anderson has gotten a lot of action with the 1s today. Starting DL during the latest 11v11: Anderson, Ioannidis, Payne and Sweat.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
Haskins just had a really nice stretch of plays. He made smart decisions and good footwork 4/5 on passes to Sims Jr., Cam Sims and McLaurin. Only incompletion was a drop by Baugh.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) August 23, 2020
This was way too easy. Dwayne Haskins drops back, Logan Thomas is running down the seam wide open, and Haskins hits him for the 20-yard touchdown.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
Haskins with another nice find to Logan Thomas in the end zone. This has been Haskins' best day IMO. Sharp and if he does miss, it's not in the "What was that?" category.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 23, 2020
Haskins to Thomas for a TD. Again.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 23, 2020
Happy Logan Thomas Day everyone.
Dwayne Haskins with another good throw and touchdown to Logan Thomas. Thomas broke out on an out to the right corner of the end zone and had Ronald Darby trailing him. J.D. McKissic was also open in the flat, if Haskins wanted him.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
Adrian Peterson is back out on the field. He gets two running plays his way. Gets good yards running to the right the first time. Stymied the second go round on a toss out of the shotgun.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
Kyle Allen with a swing pass to Antonio Gibson, who does a little shake and bake to reach the edge of the end zone and stretch the ball over the pylon. In a real game, may or may not have made it, but he gets the score in practice.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 23, 2020
Ron Rivera ended practice with a quick message to players today: "Don't do things the easy way. Do it the right way."
— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) August 23, 2020
Seemed much more pleased about the tempo of practice today.
