The Washington Redskins have announced that they will officially retire their team name and logo after they complete their review...of the team name and logo. Until then they remain the Redskins and we wait for an official announcement of what owner Dan Snyder and Head Coach Ron Rivera have come up with.
There have been a LOT of suggestions for the team’s new name, most of them terrible. The top three right now seem to be Redwolves, Warriors, and Redtails, but no one really knows for right now. Snyder and Rivera gave some clues about what they were considering when the team announced the review.
Dan Snyder, Owner of the Washington Redskins, stated, “This process allows the team to take into account not only the proud tradition and history of the franchise but also input from our alumni, the organization, sponsors, the National Football League and the local community it is proud to represent on and off the field.”
Ron Rivera, Head Coach of the Washington Redskins remarked, “This issue is of personal importance to me and I look forward to working closely with Dan Snyder to make sure we continue the mission of honoring and supporting Native Americans and our Military.”
