UPDATE: Don Warren has not been hired as Assistant Director of Pro Personnel. Keith Scott was promoted to that position today.
That report was false, a league source said. Warren still might join the organization, but it won’t be for that role. https://t.co/0XtFqFTgJA— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) July 15, 2020
There was speculation on Twitter yesterday that Don Warren might be tapped to join the Redskins’ personnel staff after it was reported that Alex Santos and Richard Mann II had been fired.
Former Panthers pro scout Don Warren joining Ron Rivera as Washington’s asst director of pro personnel, per source. Warren spent his entire 14-yr playing career w/ Washington and won 3 SBs.— Joe Person (@josephperson) July 13, 2020
His contract w/ CAR was not renewed.
Warren was a scout for the Redskins from 2005 to 2010 before joining the Carolina Panthers organization, where he worked until a recent shakeup in the personnel department of the Carolina franchise.
As a player, Warren spent his entire 14-year playing career as a tight end with the Redskins, where he was a member of the Hogs and a three-time Super Bowl champion.
Clyde Powers is another former Panthers scout who also didn’t return to Carolina. Something to keep an eye on as Ron Rivera continues to reshape the front office.

But they've parted ways with veteran pro scouts Don Warren and Clyde Powers, whose contracts were not renewed, per sources. Both were hired by Dave Gettleman.
