The Washington Redskins are close to having a new name "sooner than later", a source said Saturday night. Earlier in the day Yahoo's Charles Robinson reported a name could be announced within 24 to 48 hours. After Washington announced July 3 it would... https://t.co/xzkY9QI3Nq
— John Keim (@john_keim) July 12, 2020
If this is accurate, the chances of it being anything other than 'Warriors' are quite low.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) July 11, 2020
The timing involved doesn't really allow for it to be anything other than the only alternative name Dan Snyder has ever publicly shown any interest in. https://t.co/byeg3DogPT
Picking the Redskins’ next name for the rest of time doesn’t seem like something to rush but what do I know?
— Sean Kennedy (@EatSleepRedskin) July 12, 2020
I'd be happy with Warriors or Redwolves. Anything but Redtails.
— George Carmi (@Gcarmi21) July 11, 2020
The Redwolves concept seems to have united the fanbase, which needed a jolt. I do the like Wolfpack aspect.
Warriors is a solid name brand that can stand 50+ years, if done correctly and is free from NA imagery.
Washington Fans.

Don't be enamored/disappointed with the initial logo. The team is moving at warp speed.
After a few years, maybe even one, the team can change it anyway. The name is the first and most important step.

Keep whoever did the Rams new logo as far away from Dan Snyder as possible.
— Skins Realm (@SkinsRealm) July 11, 2020
At this point, "Warriors" would be a disappointment. But wouldn't be a surprise. https://t.co/WMFU3cnA7W

Training camp update. If you're wondering where players will stay w/ camp in Ashburn, keep a watch on the Lansdowne Resort. Not sure contracts have been signed, but seems like the favored plan. Beats standard hotel life. Dogs allowed. No cats. Unclear on RedWolves. Or Warriors.

Dwayne’s personal photographer @ImVarTho just posted an Insta video of the QB signing a bunch of #Redskins gear. Notice those helmets in the middle though? They have a big R instead of the usual logo. Could mean nothing. Prob is nothing? But these days, that is eye catching pic.twitter.com/ftR83JgCpe

I think the thing I don’t like about Redwolves is it doesn’t come across DMV related.

No pending trademark applications for Washington Redwolves.

6 pending applications with the USPTO for Washington Warriors! pic.twitter.com/xpIrJsBDuZ
In my convo with John Keim, we discussed how prior filed TM apps can serve as a roadblock.
— Darren Heitner (@DarrenHeitner) July 11, 2020
All 6 Washington Warriors applications have been suspended for more than 2 years based on prior pending applications. Could end up spending a lot on legal if NFL team chooses Warriors.
Washington Redwolves seems to have a fairly clear path as of today (of course someone will now file a trademark application to register it).
— Darren Heitner (@DarrenHeitner) July 11, 2020
He's filed 44 trademark claims on potential new names for the Redskins. Will he cash in? https://t.co/gMn2mo2edW

BREAKING
— (@bentleyhaskins) July 10, 2020
Did I just receive Dan Snyder + Ron Rivera’s email from an anonymous former employee? Yes I did.
Did I just email them a long explanation of why the Redwolves is the best name option and evidence to support that? Yes I did.

The NFL had hoped to start training camp on July 28th, but a source I spoke with tonight tells me the league and the player’s union have not agreed on dates of reporting for camp or prior dates for testing of Covid-19.

The NFLPA sent the NFL an economic counterproposal, per sources:
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) July 11, 2020
- No escrow of 2020 salaries
- Flat salary cap of $198.2M for 2021
- Spread revenue loss this year over 2022-2030 caps
- All fully guaranteed money paid even if games are canceled
Call scheduled for Monday.

As the NFL and NFLPA work toward resolving issues surrounding a season with lower revenue but more player risk, here's a quick primer on where things stand with critical meetings looming next week: pic.twitter.com/KYWMzkSY17
— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) July 11, 2020
NFL owners are actually encountering "risk " for the 1st time in their lives in many cases right now. So naturally they will act like operating in the red for a year or 2 is like losing the farm. https://t.co/QZkv3dFMoR
— Mike Tanier (@MikeTanier) July 11, 2020
Another facet of the NFLPA’s counterproposal: Players would be paid a “COVID-19 risk stipend” of up to $500,000 if games are canceled, per sources. Exact figure would depend on when cancellation occurs, among other factors.
