Today we have a special guest film breakdown from devoted Redskins fan Samuel Gold. You may have seen his work on another SB Nation site, Field Gulls, where he has been slumming covering a team that makes the playoffs every year(must be exhausting). Sam’s heart is still in Washington though, and he reached out to us to share a film session on Dwayne Haskins Jr’s rookie season. Sam previously shared his pre-draft breakdown on Chase Young with us, but we wanted to feature Haskins interesting 2019 season, and what potential it shows for this season.

In my latest video breakdown, I took a deep dive into Dwayne Haskins Jr.'s film by going through every throw from his 2019 season. Inaccuracy, holding onto the ball for far too long, and being late on throws were major issues for him during his rookie year. While this may be the case - and his first three games were pretty painful - Haskins significantly improved throughout the season gaining his confidence back from his days at Ohio State. I love how he creates off-script in this offense, and once he gets more consistent with his footwork he’ll be able to make more accurate throws. In my opinion, he has a very good shot at being the franchise quarterback the Washington Redskins have desperately been searching for.
