Ryan Kerrigan spoke to the media today via Zoom, and answered some questions about this season. He is entering the final year of his contract and is 1 sack away from tying Dexter Manley for the most sacks in Redskins history. He wants to finish his career in Washington. Kerrigan is excited to play in a 4-3 for the first time in his NFL career. He also looks forward to welcoming #2 overall pick Chase Young to the team. He says the rotation of the defensive line will work itself, and there is a lot of talent there.
Finishing his career with the Redskins:
Ryan Kerrigan is talking now. He says he hopes to be with the Redskins for however long his career lasts. He's entering the last year of his contract.

Now Ryan Kerrigan joins us.

Says he wants to be with the Redskins for the remainder of his career. Has talked to Rivera but they haven't met yet (covid). Says they know where he stands.
Switching to a 4-3 defense:
Kerrigan says he's reall excited to play in a 4-3 for the first time in his career. It's exciting for edge rushers to make that switch

The #Redskins have Montez Sweat and Chase Young, but Kerrigan still wants to be a big part of the defense. He’s most excited to work in the 4-3 scheme, which will be a first for him.

Kerrigan says he's excited to play in a 4-3 scheme for the first in his career. Getting insight from Del Rio and DL coach Sam Mills.

Won’t have to drop as much as he did in the 3-4. Wasn’t misused last season, he did what the defense called for. He’s pretty pumped for this opportunity tho.

Rotation on defense:
The rotation of the defensive line has been a question for months now, but Kerrigan isn’t worried about that. The way he sees it, all of that will sort itself out in time. #Redskins
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) June 11, 2020
Chase Young:
Kerrigan said when you play a long time and the team doesn’t have success fans and everyone involved look for new reasons to get excited. He said if he had the #2 pick in the draft he would have drafted Chase Young as well. #Redskins

Ryan Kerrigan says Redskins fans should be very excited about Chase Young. Kerrigan adds if we was in charge he would have taken Chase Young with the second overall pick too
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) June 11, 2020
Kerrigan said Chase Young has been really impressive, even though he’s only had a limited interaction with him. He’s been really impressed with how quickly Young has picked up the defense. #Redskins
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) June 11, 2020
For the first time in years Kerrigan isn't the face of the defense heading into camp -- and he says that's justified because things change and there are all kinds of talented young players. Says he absolutely would have drafted Chase Young second overall.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) June 11, 2020
Expectations for the defense:
Kerrigan doesn’t know what a reasonable expectation for the defense is since they haven’t worked together yet. But he does say that the #Redskins definitely have talent. But being good on paper will only go so far, he said. They have to get on the field and prove it.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) June 11, 2020
Working out:
Ryan Kerrigan had to get creative with his 55 pound dumbbells because they weren't heavy enough. I, for one, can't relate to that
— Pete Hailey (@PeteHaileyNBCS) June 11, 2020
How creative did Kerrigan get with workouts during the shutdown? Says he pushed his car with his wife in the driver's seat.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) June 11, 2020
Ryan Kerrigan just said that pushing a car "isn't that bad. It's not the weight, it's more the distance." Pushing a car.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) June 11, 2020
Kerrigan said he had to get creative with workouts during quarantine. It’s involved a lot of push-ups and sit ups. Oh, and he’s also been pushing his car, which he said isn’t that big of a feat. Sure it isn’t, Ryan. #Redskins

Racism:
Kerrigan said everyone (Redskins) is on the same page and that it’s sad that we are still here in society as far as racism. He said he was fortunate being raised in a diverse setting and has never thought about color. #Redskins
