Chase Young is a one-man wrecking crew!
He’s faster than a speeding bullet...

Oh yeah...he’s pretty good at football too!

Chase Young is literally a defensive coordinator’s dream and an offensive coordinator’s worst nightmare!
It all starts with his get-off. He has one of the most explosive first steps I’ve seen in college football in years. He often has two steps completed before the offensive lineman can take even one. He’s what they call “twitched-up”.
After that first step, Young can hit his opponent with an array of moves. Here you see him bend the edge and get “skinny”. Once he’s able to rip that inside arm through, it’s all over.

He has that unique ability to easily convert speed to power. This is a trait that many of the great pass rushers have, and Chase is no exception.

Young also has great hands both against and run and when he’s rushing the passer. Here he strikes the breast-plate of the right tackle and quickly crashes inside to make the tackle.

Finally, Chase has the rare ability for a man who is 6’5” 265 pounds, to plant, re-direct and get to the ball.

What are the Redskins getting in Chase Young?
By selecting Young with the second overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Redskins are adding a DYNAMIC piece to an already scary front four. Pairing him opposite 2019 first round pick Montez Sweat will create one of the fastest, most athletic EDGE combos in the entire NFL.
Chase can come in and instantly give the Redskins a Blue-Chip player that offenses will have to account for on every play, and hopefully someone who can be a core part of what new head coach Ron Rivera is building here.
For a team who currently may not have a truly elite player, Chase may give the Redskins the best shot at developing one.
