NCAA Football: College Football Playoff Semifinal-Ohio State vs Clemson Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

We’re just under a week away from the biggest event of the NFL offseason-particularly this year. The 2020 NFL Draft is set to begin Thursday, April 23, so it’s only right that we put forth an official Redskins mock draft podcast.

For this mock draft I utilized mock draft simulator run by Pro Football Network and decided against using any trades in the process.

The picks were as follows:

  • First Round: No. 2 Chase Young-DE, Ohio State
  • Third Round: No. 66 Tee Higgins-WR, Clemson
  • Fourth Round: No. 108 Joe Bachie-ILB, Michigan State
  • Fourth Round: No. 142 Thaddeus Moss-TE, LSU
  • Fifth Round: No. 162 Hakeem Adeniji-OT, Kansas
  • Sixth Round: No. 216 Harrison Hand-CB, Temple
  • Seventh Round: No. 229 Trey Adams-OT, Washington

Selecting Chase Young at No. 2 shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that’s listened over the course of this offseason. Simply, he’s too good to pass up on. If the haul is less than two first round picks plus some I think the team stays put.

The biggest surprise while doing the draft was Tee Higgins falling in our lap at No. 66. It would be nothing short of divine intervention for Higgins to fall that far. Almost similar to when Jon Allen–who was a projected Top-5 pick–fell to us at No. 17 in 2017.

A majority of the later round picks were used to add depth to certain positions of need. It should be obvious, but you aren’t looking for an All-Pro in the sixth round, you’re looking for bodies and guys that show small glimmers of hope.

In a perfect world I would’ve loved to address the offensive line earlier. But with Higgins being available at No. 66, I’d have been a fool to pass that up.
