The Redskins have reportedly signed safety Sean Davis to a 1-year deal worth up to $5 million. Davis(6’1”, 201 lbs) was a 2nd round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted from Maryland. He only played one game last season due to a shoulder injury. He started 41 games in his 4 years with the Steelers, recording 247 tackles, 5 interceptions, 20 passes defended, and 1 forced fumble.
The Redskins have been thin at safety for years, and are always looking for help at the position. Last year they signed Landon Collins to a 6-year, $84 million deal. Montae Nicholson was the team’s starting free safety, but had an off-field incident for the second year in a row.
The Redskins think they are getting a steal in Sean Davis. He hurt his shoulder in Week 2 and missed the rest of the season or else he may have been a hot commodity. He plays free safety and can roam center field.
